    As a temporary solution, see if you can find what you're looking for in /etc/openvpn (enable SSH on the router and connect using WinSCP software)

    The more I'm thinking about this the more I realize it doesn't really hurt to try. I'll just buy somewhere with a liberal return policy and if it doesn't work I'll just get my money back. I think having a separate SSID would be an acceptable drawback considering the massive price difference...

    This isn't true, my rt68u has copied its MAC address from my ISP-provided Zyxel router, because if the router's MAC isn't what my ISP expects it to be my ISP won't communicate with it.
