I would like to add my ac86u is also showing some issues with adaptive QoS enabled which seemed to work well on the previous firmware 384.19 and similar settings. Without QOS enabled speedtest is showing 470-480mbps down and 23+ up results. Now when I try to enable adaptive QoS and manually...
Wanted to update - I tried ap mode with my 86u as router and 68u as an ap, wifi signals were great all over my house and outside on my deck but I think I had some major issues with interference or something, seemed like devices would lag where before they didn't. Possibly my routers are too...
Thanks, I edited my first post but here are my answers -
1) I meant to say i will be using ethernet.
2) I have to many wired devices at the same area, I can't remove the switch and have more devices than the 68u can handle, so just wondering if I should do devices to switch to 68u or devices and...
I have both an 86u which i'm currently running as my only router, it works well but I'd like to extend my wireless range, which I have an older 68u sitting on a shelf in case I need a backup router. I have updated both to rmerlin 384.18 but have more than a few questions, I did some searches...
Thanks to everyone for their replies sounds like unless I see a great deal on a new router, that my 68u should do ok for the time being. The current deals are decent but not what I'd call great.
Without QoS I get D or worse bufferbloat scores. I believe when I tested directly connected to...
I like the QoS features and other things Rmerlin does with his firmware and it just seems to run better. I have read a bit about Asus mesh and it sounds like a nice feature if using multiple units though.
I have an Asus ac68u that does ok though it’s WiFi signal doesn’t seem great in my house for 5ghz bands. I have read the 86u and R7800 are both nice routers and am wondering if I should consider them or something else with all the sales going on.
Current setup

I was having issues so decided to a factory reset/initazize tonight on my Asus ac68u router which is running firmware 3.0.0.4.384_21140. Afterwards I noticed on the firmware page the section for signature check is gone. Any ideas what I should check/try?
Is it only a feature with AI...
I just got a 68u and went straight from the factory installed FW to the 378, reset and then went to latest FW (380) and am wondering if I should of done an intermediate update also?
I also am looking into upgrading my laptop with a decent usb adapter and wonder what is a decent one for performance and range. Currently running a dell 1704 wireless card but I have usb 3.0 ports available if that helps.
