MichaelCG Thank you very much for the added information. The download speed sure takes a major kick to the cacahuates from the VPN.

Need to upgrade to gigabit router

What's the best resource on the web for (how to) putting together something like that from start to finish? We're on a 200 down, 20 up plan with Spectrum. Is that 20Mbps up going to be a deal breaker? Lastly, what kind of download speeds are you getting when running the vpn? ty

Need to upgrade to gigabit router

Hello, So, if I were to go this route, I could make the box into a VPN server/router? Or, would I need a single router, and a single VPN server?

    RT-AC1900P H/W ver:

I just picked one up at BB yesterday (Monday, 27th). They had two on the shelf. One was V3, and the other was B2. I figured that since all the other stores I called had B2's, it was probably the latest. I also checked the firmware version on both box labels, and the B2's firmware version was a...

    RT-AC1900P H/W ver:

Both pictures posted here on the forums, were of the box label, not the sticker on the actual router itself.

    RT-AC1900P H/W ver:

When did you buy yours? I've seen two label pictures here on the forums. One was posted June, 2016, and it was a Ver: V1. The other was purchased in June, 2016, and it was Ver: V3 I called a bunch of BB stores yesterday (Sunday, 27th), and all the routers in stock were Ver: B2. thx, B

    Wired to Wireless, sort of...

So, I'm guessing that the $80-90 price difference is due to the wifi range of the RT-AC88U being much larger than the RT-AC1900P?

Need to upgrade to gigabit router

Was looking for a low $ (~ $100) basic wired router, but from what I've seen, anything low $ has low wan/lan throughput, so I'll go wireless, and use the lan ports.

Need to upgrade to gigabit router

Hello, So, I'm looking for suggestions on a new gigabit router to replace my current TP Link 100mbps model. We're upgrading to 200, or 300mbps from TimeWarner/Spectrum cable. I'm looking for something easy to use (no eight week coding/programing crash course needed), reliable, and affordable...

Okay, so I've been using the SNB router charts to compare the some numbers for the Asus RT-AC1900P, and the ASUS AC3100 RT-AC88U. WAN to LAN Throughput - TCP Mbps RT-AC1900P - 941 RT-AC88U - 934 Peak 2.4 GHz Downlink Mbps RT-AC1900P - 298.7 RT-AC88U - 451.6 2.4 GHz UpDown Throughput Mbps...

Should I avoid routers with a lower than average UDP throughput?

Thank you for the reply, The Best Buy RT-AC1900P has a 1.4 cpu, like the 3100, but yea they're wifi speeds are obviously classes apart. If I remember correctly the 1900P may have been a bit faster WAN-LAN, than the 3100, which was a plus to me. Hoping to see some sales this weekend.

Hey all, New to the site, but have been trying to soak up what I can, at the expense of what few brain cells I have left, I'm sure. Hoping for some guidance on a new router purchase. I'm looking to upgrade from my wired TLink 100mbps router to a wireless. I'm with TimeWarner/Spectrum 100mbps...
