I did the reset and reconfigured my router from scratch. it's very simple: SSID for 2.4ghz and 5ghz, and transmit power level for each band. So far so good.

No, they are both wifi version. The channel bandwidth is setting at auto 20/40/80Mhz. I set channel bandwidth to 20Mhz and 40Mhz and the tablet connects w/o any issue. I didn't try 80Mhz because i got yelling for playing around with the router at the peak hours.

I have two identical samsung S2 9.7" and one of them has issue while the other has no problem. I set auto for bandwidths and channels, I can play around with those settings.

What is the link speed between your router and aimesh node? was your Sono connecting to the mesh node or the router ? I would set the second router as an AP to see if the problem still occurs.

I only tried wifi analyzer app for android and it tells me the MAC address of the AP the tablet is connecting to, I think you can find a similar app for apple devices too.
