Is there any advantage for instance in VPN speed (OpenVPN or Wireguard) with this new model ?
And in more practical details - will this model be global or we'll still have the EU models on a separate branch?
With ASUS using rather misleading naming conventions it is becoming more and more difficult to get a model with very good Merlin support and I am a little behind with all the new models so apologies for the question if that was already clarified somewhere else.
It boils down to ordering either...
I did see the discussion on the kill switch but if possible I always try to connect directly for updates and that was the case today, no VPN and I got the issues on WiFi and wired - not even DHCP or ping was working
On my AX88U I tried a dirty upgrade from 388.7 to 388.8 and that has placed things in a very bad configuration from where no kind of network (wireless or wired) was working. Since unfortunately for the next two weeks or so I can't investigate further on that router what is wrong I had to factory...
Yes, that one was one of the first things that I used long time ago and it certainly made a difference but more recently it seems it can still be blocked.
Since it is now looking like there is no simple solution I will try testing a little with wstunnel (and wireguard over wstunnel -...
Sorry if that was not clear - on the Merlin router a form of VPN server is running and the client is on various phones and notebooks that need back access to the LAN behind the Merlin.
Normally OpenVPN works well over something like TCP:443 but in certain places (meaning both in places like...
Is there already any easy solution in Merlin for a VPN server that is hard to block? From the preliminary tests that I saw - encrypted OpenVPN over TCP:443 is still easy to block and so is wireguard :(
Do I need to install on the router something like vpn over websockets or wstunnel or similar...
Great news but just a quick question - is there any non-obvious hardware advantage (other than price) in one vs the others? I would be most interested in any significant differences in VPN speed (especially as a server) and any progress for that speed against older models. Thank you again!
Is RT-BE96U shipping in US? I remember something that initially it was end of May and then June but we are now close to end of July and I did not hear anything new
I would be interested to hear more about your experience with AXE16000 - do you have anything on the 10GbE ports? How is the speed?
Also very important for me - how is the speed on VPN?
That is a very interesting review and the speed is very impressive (definitely better than what I am getting on OpenVPN on AX88U or with an older external-compiled wireguard module), but that router (ASUS ZenWiFi XT8) is rather very modern with 4 core * 1.5 GHz or so, even the AXE11000 right now...
Possible but weird, since on the AC86U that problem DID show on an earlier update, but at that point it was enough to erase last user and then it worked. On the first AX88U nothing like that was visible before and on the other non-updated AX88U I have like 20 OpenVPN users so I will need to do...
> "HND firmware now include both the kernel module and userspace tool for Wireguard. There is no built-in support for Wireguard at this time, these are only included for end-user or third party usage. Asus is still working on their own implementation, which isn't available yet."
