Hi I have 3 x EAP245 and 2 x EAP620 and also one 225 outdoor. I think the 620s are faster with my latest iphone. The 660 was too much for me.
the biggest problem with the Omada system is there’s nothing for me to do. It just works
All - thanks for your responses and help. I ended up buying a TCP-Link Omada system. I tried a bunch of recommended things to stop the Asus router disconnects from the internet, but none of them worked - including continous DHCP query frequency. It’s too bad, I really liked the Asus Aimesh setup...
Thanks, I'm going to try this. Just for the record, when I started having problems with my Asus setup a few months ago, the Asus configuration page did show a disconnect from the internet (Verizon Fios ONT). But switching to Asus-WRT seemed to solve that problem. Then I started having the...
I wish my Asus system still worked. Just had another internet disconnect this morning. All the kids and wife scrambling to use a mobile connection for work and school. Reboot, then wait for the next internet disconnect. Which will no doubt be sometime today. And oddly, the Asus...
I think I’m leaning towards the Omada. I like the lower price compared to Unifi. I like the inexpensive managed switches, as Unifi has but Cisco does not seem to. Not a big fan of licensing either with the Cisco setup.
Thanks, the Cisco is not too spendy. But does it have good central management and not too hard to set up? Unifi seems to offer pretty easy management. The TP link stuff looks good too and they seem to have some kind of central management tool. I assume both have features like DDNS, guest...
Thanks. I switched to Asuswrt-Merlin and that seemed to fix the problems. Now I’m back to the Internet constantly failing and have to reboot 2-5x a day. Wifi is up but no Internet. Just getting tired of this equipment. I have a fully wired back haul. My wife has already approved junking our...
I've been using multiple Asus routers with AIMesh. I like it when it works, but lately problems develop where I have to reset the main router and set up everything again. The latest problem was constant disconnects from my Verizon ONT so no internet connection. Rebooting brings back the...
Thanks all. I will try Aimesh again but may wait until the next set of firmware upgrades. My AC3100 and AC88U are working great with the 88u in AP mode, and I've still got my N66s in less important places. iPhones roam pretty well between APs so I don't have a real world problem for AiMesh to...
Now that AiMesh is off the Mac Mini is back to over 800 megabits per second download on Ethernet. That’s a 2012 Mac mini BTW and reliably gets those speeds (As an aside, My more recent but somewhat old home built PC can’t manage that reliably because it gets horrific Ethernet from the...
Thanks. Basically in my desktop Mac mini on a wired connection I can get .8 gigabit or 800 ish megabits per second download off Fios using speedtest.net’s mac app. When AiMesh was on it plummeted to 1/10 of that. Weirdly upload speeds were much higher approaching gigabit but very spikey.
I...
I did not remove the N66s because I would still like to use them. I swapped out one of them for the RT-AC88U but moved it somewhere else. Can I not mix in APs in an Aimesh system? If I cannot do that, that's OK I'll wait to run Aimesh until I get more wireless units that work with it
I did...
So I have a newer RT-AC3100 I've been running as my main router the past few months. I also had two older RT-N66 running as APs also. Everything was fine. I picked up today an RT-AC88u used and decided to try AiMesh. I used the RT-AC88U as the node, connected via ethernet. Got it working and...
