    Swapping Out Asus Routers

Thank you for the replies and advice. Since I'm going from a tri-band router to a dual-band router, are there any suggested special settings maybe I should configure? I had a DHCP static IPs for my xbox, Habitat and Lutron hub's but that was all I had specially configured.

    Swapping Out Asus Routers

Thank you for the quick feedback. It sounds like I should setup the new router by flashing with Merlin software first, do a factory reset, and then manually configure using my old SSID settings to reconnect clients on the network. Now to research how to install Merlin software - should be a...

    Swapping Out Asus Routers

My 3 year old Asus GT-AC5300 has continued to randomly drop one of the tri-band radio channels off and on for a while now and after continued reboots and even a complete system reset, I decided to purchase a new RT-AX88U to replace with. Before I go to swap out I was wondering if anyone could...

    Looking to replace Asus GT-AC5300

I ended up buying an RT-AC86U from Amazon thinking that it was my GT-AC5300 but the 86U had the same results. I switched over to AT&T Gib fiber and the issues went away. I can send the 86U back still but I’m wondering if I should keep it to run as a mesh access point for our downstairs area...

    Delayed Connections

A few weeks ago we started having strange issues with our internet connection. Hardwired devices (firestick streaming devices) would turn on showing no connection but then would start acting correctly. Then we started seeing issues with web pages loading slowly and my work zoom calls would show...

    Looking to replace Asus GT-AC5300

Thank you for the quick response! While I did update the firmware last night, I did not do a hard reset before doing so. If I understand correctly, I can save my settings before doing the hard reset and then upload my saved settings again, correct? Besides the random drops of one of the 5Ghz...

    Looking to replace Asus GT-AC5300

My three year old Asus GT AC5300 has started having some strange issues and the latest firmware did not resolve so looking at maybe replacing. We have around 50 smart devices (switches, bulbs, etc.) connected via wifi but tv's, desktop pc, and the xbox are hardwired. With the AC5300 being a...

    Asus GT-5300 for Orbi?

I wish I could but Best Buy doesn’t offer that model, only the original version, and I have to trade out for something there unless I want to spend money out of pocket. I’m envious of a router that runs stable for more than a few weeks at a time.

    Asus GT-5300 for Orbi?

Thanks for the reply, I ended up getting asus support to help reinstall the firmware today and things are back to normal. One thing I can say is that they are easy to get on the phone when needed, just wish I did not need them as often on a $400 router. I went up to Best Buy and purchased an...

    Asus GT-5300 for Orbi?

I’m on my second ASUS GT-5300 and now the second one is doing the same thing as the first one did, just basically bricking and not connecting to my modem at all. I’ve tried resetting it to no avail. ASUS replaced the first one under warrant and while this one is under warranty as well, I’m tired...

Second router as access point for smart devices

Thank you, I was not aware that I could do that with my 2.4Ghz channel. I appreciate your help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Second router as access point for smart devices

I only know the basics so looking for some assistance. I have a heavy duty ASUS GT5300 that is our main router. It’s handling about 50 smart devices right now as well as our normal heavy load of streaming and personal devices. I’m running the smart hub on the 2.4 GHz and everything else on the...

Asus RT-N56U stuck in recovery mode?

No, no connection. I think I might have it now. I had to download the Windows 8.1 64 bit version of the rescue utility instead of the Windows 10 that my laptop runs. It seems to be allowing me to upload the latest firmware now to the router. Thanks for your assistance.

Asus RT-N56U stuck in recovery mode?

The power button is blinking blue very slowly. When looking on online at Ausus support it shows a firmware restoration utility to run but it's not available to download on their website. The only files I've been able to find for download are the firmware and then a device discovery utility.
