    AC-88U 384.10_2 CPU usage discrepancies

Update. Ever since I turned of AI Protection and diversion, reboot, turned diversion back on, tested it, and then turned on AI Protection, everything is back to normal again.

    AC-88U 384.10_2 CPU usage discrepancies

Hmm... I actually followed the amtm instructions when I installed fresh. This is a brand new set up of Merlin firmware/router/usb thumb drive combo.

    AC-88U 384.10_2 CPU usage discrepancies

It's already in ext 4. You're saying I have to reformat jffs to get rid of this issue? I've installed diversion via amtm.

    AC-88U 384.10_2 CPU usage discrepancies

I just turned off AIProtection. This is what my CPU looks like now on reboot: This is with diversion, Skynet, stubby DNS, and Yazfi running. Will update if this issue is resolved or it returns.

    AC-88U 384.10_2 CPU usage discrepancies

Yup. I spoke too soon. This is my router the morning. There's definitely something amiss here... I may revert to Asuswrt to see if the issue go away.

    AC-88U 384.10_2 CPU usage discrepancies

Well, I think I resolved the issue but I have no idea which of the changes fixed it. I uninstalled spdMerlin and ntpMerlin NTP daemon. I can't say for sure that either caused it but it's 4 hours later and the CPU spike no longer occurs.

    AC-88U 384.10_2 CPU usage discrepancies

No I didn't enable that. I did enable AIProtection. I may disable that and see if it helps. What I don't understand is this only happens after a few hours. It's normal for the first few hours after reboot.

    AC-88U 384.10_2 CPU usage discrepancies

Three hours later, the CPU is ow pegged at 95-98% constant. After reboot, the CPU process goes up and down normally. I haven't enabled anything extra since reboot. Something is causing the CPU to go into overdrive after a few hours. Temperature is now at 192 F. Edit: Also notice how the graph...

    AC-88U 384.10_2 CPU usage discrepancies

This is the top CPU usage when router first start up. It appears to be about 50% of what the ASUS GUI reports:

Using H to switch between CPU's they are all in the 50% range. Also, here is the CPU usage when it first start up: After about a day, the CPU is constantly pegged at 98%. Also this is the temperature with the CPU not pegged at max: Once CPU is pegged at 98%, the temperature jumps to 184...

    AC-88U 384.10_2 CPU usage discrepancies

I have a question regarding the CPU usage. In the Merlin GUI, it shows the CPU as pegging at 98-99% constantly. However, using top command from SSH, CPU is pegged at 50-55%. I also noticed that when I reboot the router, the GUI will show CPU usage between 50-80%. However, after a day it's...

    NFS client on 384.9

Hi, I am having the same problem with an Asus RT-88U mounting an NFS share on my Synology box. I want to mount a share instead of plugging in a USB thumb drive. However, I am getting the file descriptor error. Based on reading this thread, is it confirmed that with AIProtection on, it's not...

Asus-Merlin FW vs Tomato or DD-WRT for RT-AC66 or RTAC68 Routers

Well, I experiemented with DD-WRT and Tomato USB on the AC68U and AC56U thinking that the VPN client would work on it (it doesn't as well so it may be an issue with Tomato builds) and here are my findings: DD-WRT on Asus: Unstable. Client Bridge DOES NOT work with Asus Ac56U, even when...

Asus Merlin VPN Client Doesn't Work?

Tried dnsleak and the results are the same with both VPN client working running and without. It sees me coming from COMCAST Cable ISP.

Asus Merlin VPN Client Doesn't Work?

I will try it at home tonight and post the results. Correct me if I'm wrong, DNSLeaks only deals with leaking information through VPN from using the wrong DNS server. However, the WAN IP should still be the one from the VPN server. My issue is that I was able to verify my WAN IP through...
