    AC68U V3 and VPN Server

Not a fan of the CT8’s, its a quad core but i dont feel its the better router. However its a negative that the ac68u doesnt support any IPsec vpn, which thr ct8 strangely does. I might resort to PPTP and only turn it on during tve short gaming sessions. OpenVPN is allegedly a resource hog.

    AC68U V3 and VPN Server

Right, i guess ipsec on the ct8 wont be much faster. I might try the ac68 using merlin for more options.

    AC68U V3 and VPN Server

Im trying to figur out how to get a VPN Server running somewhat reliable on either my CT8 (quad core at unknown speed) or AC68U V3 router (2x1000mhz). The AC68U is running merlin, however it doesnt support IPsec vpn server, neither the instant guard app for mobile phones, which uses IPsec too...

AC68U or CT8 as main router

Does the ac68u even support ipsec vpn server? Would make the choice very easy ;)

AC68U or CT8 as main router

68U for throughput? I see in many topics here that the 68u is ’decade old tech’, however the ct8’s chipset/SoC might be more modern? Does it have better cpu offloading or other advantages?

AC68U or CT8 as main router

Thanks, yes merlin does seem a nice advantage. And thats the thing, i am planning to use the build in ipsecvpn server for just a two player private minecraft (java) / teamspeak servef with a family member. Right now using hamachi but testing ipsecvpn using the ct8 with so far unknown results...

AC68U or CT8 as main router

Cant seem to find any information here or using google, what router is better suited to use as a main router, a CT8 or AC68U? No AImesh etc. The AC68U has the BCM470x - Cortex A7 ARMv7 revision 0 cpu, running at 1000mhz. No idea about the CT8 as it doesnt support merlin firmware, however from...

    Asus Aimesh/AP network advice

Ok i will play/test with those settings/setup when no one is home and using the network. With one AP less in the house, i'd have iffy wifi on one side of the home, but il see if i can fix that by eventually moving the router somewhat (cable length problem). Il flash the AC68U to stock asuswrt...

    Asus Aimesh/AP network advice

CT8 and AC68U as an accesspoint, i dont think thats a nightmare but ok. Two AX68 would have been better perhaps, the omada wasnt for me since the EAP245 didnt even reach the garage which was one of the main requirements. Maybe a more expensive AP from TP link (or equal brand) but that wouldnt...

    Asus Aimesh/AP network advice

Thought i'd create a new thread, coming from the wireless buying advice section. I will quote my latest post from that section and start from there: To add to the above, the router and two AP's (three 5ghz SSID's) are as follows for their static selected channels, 36, 64 and 140 and auto...

    Asus Aimesh/AP network advice

An update. I now have a quite nice network going, no more deathspots and use-able network in the garage building. One of the CT8's is functioning as the main router, the other CT8 and AC68U (merlin) as accesspoints, no AImesh configuration. Router and AP's are on different channels, for 2.4ghz...

    Asus Aimesh/AP network advice

Yeah well otherwise there should be a warranty i think. The AX68U is the better router but its almost double the price here. The AC86U can be found for as cheap as 90 to 100 dollars new (produced 2021 in china). Anyway, the AC68U has been quite unstable on its 2.4ghz radio. Either you cant...

    Asus Aimesh/AP network advice

To add, the ct8 just has a bad range? Wonder if reverting to older firmware would increase the bad range.
