DDNS update not working after update to 386.9

Disabling the "IPv6 Update" option looks like it has fixed the problem. Thanks. I should have looked at the 386.8 release notes :) Not sure why there should be a problem with this as my ISP supports IPv6.

DDNS update not working after update to 386.9

Yes, I did reboot the router. I updated from 386.7_2. It's been so long that I don't remember. I have hesitated doing so because I don't relish the idea of setting up the router again. If I were to do so, would I lose my jffs partition?

DDNS update not working after update to 386.9

After updating my RT-AC68U to 386.9, ddns updates stopped working. Before the update, the log contained entries such as after, though The ddns-start script works fine if run manually. I'm assuming that there's a bug in the latest firmware that's causing this but I'm wondering if there's...

USB to Ethernet adapter killing network

I had a feeling that a crap adapter was the problem :( What about a Belkin one like https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B086SV2FK4/?tag=smallncom-20

USB to Ethernet adapter killing network

Work just provided me with a laptop with no ethernet port (Lenovo P1). Since I prefer the reliability of a wired connection to wireless for work-related activities, I picked up a QGeeM USB C to Ethernet adapter and connected it to a Netgear Ethernet over Power adapter. The Lenovo successfully...

    RT-AX56U ethernet backhaul

The version was the problem. The fact that the AX56U's firmware version had a 384 in it did not twig. I guess the "temporarily" did indeed imply that it was coming but, being the impatient sort that I am, I've updated it to Merlin 386.2_4 and everything now looks good. Thanks!

    RT-AX56U ethernet backhaul

That is partially the case here. As advised by Merlin elsewhere, I've left the node using the Asus firmware. I need to use asuswrt-merlin on the main router because I'm using an unsupported ddns service.

    RT-AX56U ethernet backhaul

I just picked up an RT-AX56U and added it as a node to my existing RT-AC68U and enabled ethernet backhaul. Everything looked good until I noticed a yellow dot beside the RT-AX56U in the AiMesh page. Hovering over the do displays This router does not support the following feature(s)...

    Enabling swap at startup

I missed the 30s loop where the script is repeatedly checking to see if entware is available. I suspect that a disk check is indeed what caused the problem. My router became unstable and the only way that I could get it to recover was to toggle the power. That would mean that the drive was...

    Enabling swap at startup

Well, I now know what the problem is and it seems a pretty serious one to me. I have Entware installed on my system. Entware is installed to a USB drive and it obviously assumes that the drive will be available when services-start is called: #!/bin/sh RC='/opt/etc/init.d/rc.unslung' i=30...

    Enabling swap at startup

It's not immediately clear from the wiki page what order events happen unless it's implied by the order in which they're listed. You may be right that services-start is too early but it doesn't really make sense to me that that should be the case. I would think that there are going to be...

    Enabling swap at startup

Hi, I have set up a swap partition on a drive attached to the USB3 port of my AC68U which I would like to be enabled when the router is booted. I have added the following lines to the end of the services-start script: swapon UUID="<swap partition UUID>" echo 20 > /proc/sys/vm/swappiness but...

    Rsync backup server

Sure, not a problem. Install entware, if you haven't already done so, with entware-setup.sh Install rsync and rsyncd: opkg rsync rsyncd Configure rsync daemon You don't have to stick to the dd-wrt instructions for this as the standard configuration works (I used...

    Client name issue

I was looking over the client list on the Network Map page and was concerned to see an Amazon Kindle connected to my router since nobody in my home has an Amazon Kindle. I briefly thought that somebody had hacked my system. I then checked System Log -> Wireless Log where the the MAC address...

    Rsync backup server

Finally got this installed and working. The dd-wrt instructions work for Optware but not quite for Entware since the rsync package in Optware includes everything including the daemon scripts while Entware has separated the daemon scripts into their own package, rsyncd. Once I installed both...
