If I have to do a factory default reset, which is the preferred method for the AC86U, just hold in the reset button for 5 sec. or turn the device on while keeping the WPS button pressed?

RT-AC86U 384.19 Been up for 6 days without a reboot, I think everything is working good but if someone that knows more about what the data should look like can take a peek.

No, you didn't, I just decided to go for it because I want to keep it up to date. So far mine is working without a hitch.

I'm the same, I've only had my Asus for a week and don't know Jack about any of this technical stuff, so I think for now anyway I will keep mine on 384.18 since it is working well. I am reading this forum and hopefully learning some from all these Wizards on here.

I just successfully flashed Merlin so all is good. I just went by Collin's suggestions. I also saved my previous settings just in case. Now when there is a new update for Merlin do I do this procedure again?

Thanks, I just wasn't too sure of the right way to go about it, this helps a lot . Will I have to make a new password after factory reset or can I reuse the same password I used to set it up the first time?

I just bought a new RT-AC86U, I want to do the flash the correct way. What are the steps that I need to take? I've never done anything like this before so am a bit nervous about trying to. Should I update to the latest factory Firmware first before flashing to Merlin? Thanks in advance.
