What metric should I look at to quantify wifi power/range?

I currently have an ASUS N56U and I’m disappointed with the WIFI range. I have a 150 meg connection and 2 feet away from the router I get 25 mps, and in my bedroom I only get 2-12. I need raw speed and through put to overpower my neighbors but not sure what metric in the charts to look at to...

Is there a way to seperate/block network traffic for a roomate

I'm planning on getting a roommate and to be on the safe side don't want their internet viewing habits showing up on my account. Who knows if they like to look at kiddie porn. I was going to require that they get their own service but with xfinity there can only be one line to an address...

    Raid enclosure or NAS?

Very true about the theft, fire etc. I still need local access because of speed but really dont need all the features of NAS. Just the ability to read from the media player an add more media remotely. Does that mean full blown NAS or is there some intermediary?

    Raid enclosure or NAS?

Clarification needed on dual band routers

If you have multiple wireless devices will a dual band router broadcast at the fastest connection speed for each device or will it drop to the slowest speed? Does dual band only mean 2.4 Ghz v/s 5Ghz? I was thinking of getting the ASUS RT-N56U any other recommendations that have 1000M...

Fast NAS adapters that work with NTFS?

I was thinking of buying this Addonics adapter but is only supports FAT32, but it's super fast. Does anyone sell a similar device that will allow me to plug my Seagate goflex desk into and become a NAS? I have seen pogoplug but I hear that device is very slow.

Which of these are my best option for cheap NAS solution?

I just bought a patriot box office media player and a go flex home 2TB drive. In this whole process Ilearned about NAS (3 days worth of knowledge). I would now like to consider a solution to stream media to the player and looking at the follow. 1) Go Flex Net v/s Addonics NAS2XUS v/s...
