    Asus RT-N66U destroying speed test

I purchased Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 (model R7000). I am upgrading laptop wireless cards to AC technology. My only other problem is I don't think my printers have AC technology. Is there way to have both routers working - N66U for printers & AC1900 for everything else?

    Asus RT-N66U destroying speed test

If I upgraded wireless card to dual band usb wireless network adapter (5 GHz capability) because I will likely upgrade laptop in next year and don't want to mess with installing new internal wireless card. What could I expect to get Mbps up to? According to Asus specs its capable of 450 Mbps for...

Why would home user be interested in NAS?

sinshiva, Are you referring to something like this: http://youtu.be/91BW4v2h1FU If so couldn't someone just use external hard drive (uncompressed ISO files) and plug it into WD TV play at fraction of cost? These NAS devices I am seeing are almost $1,000 dollars. Still not clear what the draw...

Newbie question - how do I change channels

wouterv thanks for wealth of information. What happens when router does support DSF? do those signals interfer with doppler and military? I am surprised the US government hasn't made that law in that routers must support DSF.

Newbie question - how do I change channels

thanks everyone who has replied. I plan on upgrading my laptop in spring. I don't know if this sounds silly but should I be getting wireless card that has IpV6 capability or will that be solely handled at router and I assume I would want wireless card n standard that can receive 5 ghz?

Newbie question - how do I change channels

gotcha...its under control channel drop down. Mine was set to auto. thank you Real quick - is there a way to pinpoint what can be causing fluctuations in wireless strength? For example during my test on channel 1 two days ago, I was receiving link score of 78-80 and getting about 19 mbps on...

Setting up IVP6 on Asus RT-N660 and more

also I was able to find culprit for slow speed. When I run Shilds Up security check here: (https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?rh1dkyd2) After running test on my 'file sharing' & 'common ports' my speeds go from 25 mbps to 5 mbps. It requires a reboot of router and computer. Just FYI for someone...

Setting up IVP6 on Asus RT-N660 and more

Roger, I purchased Roku 3 which included ethernet and dual band capability. Will upgrade laptop in april (will look for wireless card that can receive 5 ghz but might just wire that device also). Logistically maybe its: wire within 3 feet or less, 5 ghz for 3 to 6 feet, 2.5 ghz for rest. I...

Setting up IVP6 on Asus RT-N660 and more

I purchased the Roku 1 before I decided to upgrade router & modem. It does not have ethernet cable. I doubt it has 5 ghz capabilities but heard netflix doesn't require high download speeds to get video. Also, Yesterday my ethernet & wireless speeds where around 26-28 mbps. Today my wireless...
