It looks like Asus resurrected the RT-AX68U router by releasing firmware 3.0.0.4.388_24646 ... I'm wondering though how many things in the Asus firmware are currently patched that would not be patched in Merlin 3004.388.6_2 ? I'm running the Merlin one at the moment and just wondering about it...

Are there any features that are going to be lost when moving from 3.0.0.4.388.21732 to 388.2_2 ?

Would the WAX206 be a better choice than a more expensive router such as the RAX120 ? I‘m thinking both support wise and the fact that I only need an access point without routing capabilities? I also want good wireless coverage, that would equal or beat my current ASUS Blue Cave which is...

No, I've flashed many Asus beta firmwares, they're all beta in fact :) I flashed it and so far so good, but like I said I'm in AP mode ...

New firmware is out 9.0.0.4.386.41994 and hopefully the WAN reconnect bug is fixed!

New firmware was just released, maybe it will fix the WAN reconnect bug! 9.0.0.4.386.41994 I don't know myself since I run mine in AP mode so it's working fine anyways :)

I see it now available on the main firmware page as well .. At least everyone will know there's finally a firmware, after pretty much a year of no updates :)

Ok, very similar devices then ... i was going to put pfsense on mine if the UTM did not work out but so far so good. I believe your appliance is using the C2358 rated 961 passmark, and mine has the E3827 rated 849 on passmark, other specs look similar 4 ports, etc. I was lucky to get mine used...

Pretty good, what router is that ? Of course I had to turn off web filtering temporarily on my UTM to complete the bufferbloat test as it does not support byte range requests, I'm guessing because it's filtering web traffic through a transparent proxy.

At least I don't have to worry about bufferbloat with my SG115 running UTM 9.6 :)

Yeah, the RT2600AC was a great product as far as features that I needed go, but most importantly the "unstable 2.4 ghz" killed it for me. I've now been using my Blue Cave upstairs in AP mode and it's working amazingly, and my main router is the Sophos XG115. That one is working great as well...

Blue Cave but I will be using it in bridge mode upstairs just for WiFi, and as my main router I bought a used wired for downstairs, Sophos XG115.
