AC68U Popular speedtest sites show full speed, but actually downloading files are slower than dial-up.

Thank you, I appreciate this. I think the most frustrating part of the entire troubleshooting process, was that before I did anything I immediately removed my entire network from the equation, hooked up my main machine to the ONT, and ran tests, they all passed, at which point I went back to...

Yeah, that's why to ensure it was not a misconfiguration that was not being cleared I removed that machine and put in a completely different original AC68U to test. Settings show that both are enabled. But I know now that the issue is with the ISP, not Merlin, it was purely coincidental.

    1. The one I am asking about is not a modded one, it is an original. 2. They were, and they do. 3. Fiber To The Home does not have a modem. 4. I clearly stated that I did so. 5. I did. 6. You are not getting gigabit on a wireless connection. Even in ideal conditions unless in a lab. This...

AC68U Popular speedtest sites show full speed, but actually downloading files are slower than dial-up.

OK, so quick update. I was able to confirm that the issue also appears with the direct connection to the ONT. I called my ISP and they reprovisioned the ONT, which increased my speed to 9megs, still 991megs slower than I should be, but, better than 9kb lol. They then rebooted the ONT, which...

AC68U Popular speedtest sites show full speed, but actually downloading files are slower than dial-up.

The first one was a convert. The second one that I am running now however is an original. And while they may be old, they have been very reliable for me for many years, very little in the way of issues, and just worked for the most part, minus being extremely susceptible to nearby lightning...

AC68U Popular speedtest sites show full speed, but actually downloading files are slower than dial-up.

Hello everyone. As alluded to here in this post I am having an issue that I think may be an actual bug. http://www.snbforums.com/threads/rt-ac88u-slow-download-speeds-buggy-qos.55759/post-725785 The equipment is an RT-AC68U with Merlin 386.3_2 on it. When upgrading I followed all of the best...

[RT-AC88U] Slow download speeds (buggy qos?)

Well, let's just add on to this thread here, seems everyone is going to find it when searching. Might as well have a fully tally and a good jumping point for others lol. I just started experiencing this too, however, to make matters worse, I removed the router that was having the issue, and...

Solved Can I use AIMesh with a managed switch handling the DHCP and other main network management?

Thanks for the feedback Morris and Colin, and the reality check. Completely random side question. Any clue why the ports on these things go out so easily? I have a number of them and many have either a dead wan port or at least one dead lan port. They seem to be really susceptible to some sort...

Solved Can I use AIMesh with a managed switch handling the DHCP and other main network management?

Thanks Morris. The new plan, the line from the Fiber ONT into the 68U, set up the switch as a simple dumb switch and attach the majority of the wired devices to it. Then run dedicated lines from the remaining 3 ports on the 68U to the other 3 68U AiMesh nodes. The 68U has been doing fine, but...

Solved Can I use AIMesh with a managed switch handling the DHCP and other main network management?

Wow... And you can tell I was dead tired while making this plan, I straight blanked on the capabilities of the switch and completely misremembered what it could do. And this is why documentation is > memory. Thanks for the bake check there Colin.

Solved Can I use AIMesh with a managed switch handling the DHCP and other main network management?

Hmm, that's good to know there may be some incompatibility. Why would you not use a managed switch for DHCP in a home environment?

Solved Can I use AIMesh with a managed switch handling the DHCP and other main network management?

The managed switch will handle DHCP and DNS. That is what the managed part of it is.

Solved Can I use AIMesh with a managed switch handling the DHCP and other main network management?

Currently, I have a number of AC68U's running my network. All run the latest version of Merlin. Router 1 handles the incoming fiber line and does the heavy lifting for the firewall, DHCP, and AiMesh master node. The other 3 act as nodes and do their thing. I would like to replace Router 1...

    RT-AC68U AiMesh bad wan port.

Alright, everything has been updated and is stabilized. The WAN port is still dead. Is there any way to enable Dual WAN on an AiMesh Node without removing it and directly connecting to it to make the changes then adding it back?

Thank you @Domdus the update was exactly what I needed and your instructions were perfect.
