RT-AX58U 2.4ghz shutting down and overheating?

I'm only using CakeQOS and scMerlin scripts with no swap file in use so can't comment on the effect of using USB 2.0 . Maybe only change USB setting as a last resort if nothing else has worked?

RT-AX58U 2.4ghz shutting down and overheating?

Thanks for the suggestion but I had tried preamble set to long initially, thinking along the same lines as you but it didn't appear to help. Since things have been stable for a while now, I'm reluctant to make any further changes. To be honest I still don't know which if any of the many changes...

RT-AX58U 2.4ghz shutting down and overheating?

Downgrading to 384.19 seems to be a fix for some people, I was unable to test this as 384.19 was never available for the AX56U. I have changed USB mode to USB 2.0 (Administration/System tab), beware this change invokes a complete router reboot and these are my 2.4 GHz wireless settings...

RT-AX58U 2.4ghz shutting down and overheating?

This thread seems to conclude that it's a firmware problem. https://www.snbforums.com/threads/asus-ax58u-2-4ghz-band-keeps-denying-internet-access.72321/ I have seen the same behaviour on my AX56U, restart the wifi service and the temperature instantly returns to normal and clients are able to...

    Router temperatures

This problem is not unique to the AX58U, I have the exact same behaviour on an AX56U. 2.4 GHz radio temp reports @ 76°, 5.0 GHz is normal as is the CPU. All 2.4 GHz connected devices show RX/TX speeds of 5/1. Restarting the wireless service instantly reverts the temp to normal and device...

scMerlin scMerlin v2 - Service and script control menu for AsusWRT-Merlin

Can't reboot since wife is working from home currently, I've edited out the double entry in /tmp/menuTree.js which has fixed it! Pretty sure I was on V2.2.1 before the WebUI update and I had been viewing files with WinSCP when trying to find out why I was missing the NVRAM and JFFS values. I...

scMerlin scMerlin v2 - Service and script control menu for AsusWRT-Merlin

After applying the V2.2.2 update from the WebUI I've ended up with two entries For scMerlin. If I now run the uninstaller I'm left with this view, the page url is http://192.168.0.1/user3.asp and is missing the WebUI Addons section. Reinstalling gets me back to the same two entries again...

    [384.18_Alpha Builds] Testing all variants

It's not just releasing the GPL code that Asus have fallen behind on; the RT-AX56U does not even have a user guide available more than 6 months after launch, just a quick start guide.

    QOS Classification Pie Data Blank

Ah ok, thanks for clarifying. The output of cat /sys/module/sch_htb/parameters/htb_rate_est returns '0' with no changes made to the default htb scheduler so maybe Adaptive QOS is also broken on the RT-AX56U .

    QOS Classification Pie Data Blank

I'm sorry but I don't remember the Classification tab being present on the stock firmware, I have checked and nobody has reported it as an issue.

    QOS Classification Pie Data Blank

I have exactly the same issue on my RT-AX56U with or without the FreshJR addon, does it share the same broken code?

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.17 (and 384.13_8) are now available

@L&LD Certainly did, several times throughout the course of the day. Maybe not user error after all? :)
