ZenWiFi XT8: TriBand SmartConnect Faster than 5GHz SmartConnect?

I hear you. I'd usually get around 600 Mbps on a good day and of course sometimes slower. Enough that 750 seemed like I may have made a great decision to upgrade the firmware before 400 brought me back to earth. As you say, maybe it's just the network, but such disparate results within an hour...

ZenWiFi XT8: TriBand SmartConnect Faster than 5GHz SmartConnect?

So I finally got around to upgrading my XT8 mesh firmware (42095 to 46980) and did the recommended factory reset. While reconfiguring, I couldn't remember where the "Enable Ethernet Backhaul" setting was for my wired pair, so I found myself temporarily with a single SSID and Tri-Band...

    Zen WiFi XT8 AX

Over at Dong Knows there's a potential common thread of problems for those who have enabled QoS. Turning it off seems to have fixed issues for some people. (Disabling QoS via the web interface has also been an issue, but people have used Telnet or the phone app successfully.) I have had QoS...

ZenWifi AX No 160mhz for backhaul

Did you try WP3? I played around with the 5GHz-2 channel (Ethernet backhaul), and when I selected WP3 I got a message saying that choosing WP3 (or WP2/WP3) would disable AIMesh. I wasn't brave enough to push past that point.

[Maylyn - Networking] ASUS ZenWiFi XT8

doeboy, I just had a comment exchange with Dong about this and learned what most here probably know already: With AIMesh enabled on any tri-band ASUS router, SmartConnect only then works for the 2.4GHz and 5GHz-1 bands. If you use wired backhaul, you can set up 5GHz-2 for use by clients as a...

[Maylyn - Networking] ASUS ZenWiFi XT8

The DongKnows review is up and he likes it, with pretty much expected caveats. The performance numbers look pretty good. https://dongknows.com/asus-zenwifi-ax-xt8-review/

[Maylyn - Networking] ASUS ZenWiFi XT8

Anxiously awaiting a review of the XT8! A few of my concerns/questions I hope to see answered: 1) Will the performance numbers hold up to competing but more expensive mesh products (e.g. Orbi 6) with higher-end hardware (CPU, memory, # antennas)? 2) Maximum usable distance for wireless...

    RT-AX88U Router + ZenWifi XT8 Nodes?

The Amazon product page is confusing, but you can find the black version at the lower price if you look for the Amazon-shipping version available on Feb 16. (Look where you usually search alternate suppliers.)

[Maylyn - Networking] ASUS ZenWiFi XT8

"Scammy" seems a little harsh. It certainly would be a nice feature. Do you know of any mesh routers with that feature, especially any under $500 for a pair? I wish I did, because I'm looking to invest in an AX mesh router and none of the candidates (ASUS, Orbi, Linksys) support >1 GbE backhaul...
