NETGEAR EVA9150 Digital Entertainer Elite Reviewed

Very happy to know it supports WPA2, I was wondering about that. Presumably 5GHz as well as 2.4GHz? This really looks like a lust-worthy piece of hardware. . . but until the software support/partnerships get better, it's still not *the one*.

    SmallNetBuilder's CES 2009 Wrap Up

So, no new dual-band routers announced at CES? Criminy. Given the state of dual-band 802.11n right now that is a major disappointment. One could hardly claim that the tech has matured and thus doesn't need new and better products! I begin to wonder if the push to move networking to the 5GHz...

    New WNDR3300 Firmware available

Wow. And Intel's new 4965/5100/5300 drivers, 12.1.2.1 that were released on 11/24, when combined with the Netgear firmware upstream, seem to have finally resolved my drop issues entirely. At least I've got three straight nights of no drops now. This router has officially gone from "Arrgh, the...

    Dual-band N client/adaptor

I don't know that I'd say USB 2.0 has "plenty" of bandwidth for 802.11n. I read it as just barely enuf if you're not simultaneously stressing your USB chipset with some other task at the same time. The problem is USB 2.0 has much the same issue as the wireless router specs. . . the "real...

Should we get an N router for our G adapters?

If you're looking at a 2-3 yr purchase for a new router, then I can't imagine why you wouldn't at least want a cheap .n 2.4GHz-only router. Even if you pay a bit more for it than a .g router. It won't do any worse for your .g, and some time in that period you're likely to upgrade one or more...

Should we get an N router for our G adapters?

Has the decision already been made to upgrade the router, and you're wondering .g vs .n? Or you're trying to decide whether to upgrade your old .g router at all? I can't imagine why if you've already made the decision to upgrade you wouldn't want to at least go 2.4GHz single-band .n as a...

    New WNDR3300 Firmware available

While I wouldn't suggest it as a reason to run out and buy this router, if any of y'all already have it and are running the 1.0.26 or earlier firmwares, my experience the last couple weeks (from their beta forum) with 1.0.29 has been much improved for web surfing throughput and consistency on...

    Has Networking Lost Its Mojo?

The state of 802.11n, particulary dual-band, has nearly sucked the joy out of wireless networking for me. First, I put off by a year a notebook upgrade to wait for Intel's Santa Rosa platform because a notebook is a 3-4 year investment for me, and I didn't want to have to use an external usb...

D-Link DIR-825 Xtreme N Dual Band Gigabit Router: Second Time's the Charm?

When you consider that we're starting to get within sight of the two year anniversary of the announcement of the DIR-855, I have to say I'm extremely disappointed with the progress of dual-band 802.11n hardware and firmwares over that period. It's downright disheartening.

Linksys WRT610N Simultaneous Dual-N Band Wireless Router Reviewed

I wish he'd said what his client was, because now I'm beginning to suspect that is an artifact of Intel 4965AGN rather than WMM. . . .because I had the same issue with Netgear WNDR3300 and Intel client with the WMM setting. Either that or its some funky part of the .n spec that is unknown...

Linksys WRT610N Simultaneous Dual-N Band Wireless Router Reviewed

While a relatively overwhelming amount of griping may be the typical pattern for tech forums, it's not nearly so prevalent a phenomenon at places like Amazon and Newegg that cater to a much wider base that has a higher percentage of customers who have been trained in the value to the community...

Linksys WRT610N Simultaneous Dual-N Band Wireless Router Reviewed

Sigh. I was considering the WRT610N as the "safe" choice for quality dual-band wireless .n router. But now that I've reviewed the Amazon and Newegg comments, I think there isn't one anymore. Unless one wants to dig up a discontinued WRT600N from an increasing small number of sources. 5GHz .n...

1). It might be useful if posters of the original thread don't do it, to edit in a direct link to the article being commented on in the first post of the thread. 2). Please consider adding the home page of the site to your breadcrumb at the top of the forum. I know, after puzzling around...

Linksys WRT610N Simultaneous Dual-N Band Wireless Router Reviewed

It appears Amazon has it for $149 right now. I'm very tempted. I've officially Given Up Hope that my WNDR3300 will ever be anything more than "just barely livable". Unfortunately, Amazon is also quoting a 3-5 week shipping delay.
