An oldie, unable to mount USB drive

Thanks. I did wipe the drive completely, created new volumes, and there is now only the 200MB unallocated, and the 3.8 TB partition. But, Asus cannot mount it. So, if I understand correctly, the Asus cannot function as a true file server?

An oldie, unable to mount USB drive

Thanks for the comment, and I do have 2 Synology NAS on the network (412+ and 212+). The USB 3.0 port is however too slow, and I was hoping that by connecting the drive directly to the router, I would have optimum speed. Do you for example, have similar issues with your RT-AC3100 ? The goal of...

An oldie, unable to mount USB drive

Up to about 3 years ago, I ran a 1TB drive as network drive on my RT-AC66U, but I gave up after some months because of poor performance. I just installed a new (empty) POWERED 4 TB drive (200 MB left unallocated), formatted NTFS, and the drive is recognized, but stays listed as Unmounted. This...

    BT issue

Am using VPN, and once connected is ok. Everything turns around the 750 ms latency.

    BT issue

The file was about 7.5 GB and I was at about 30% after several days, when the change suddenly happened. The number of seeders was over a 1000.

    BT issue

Have still no solution for the slow bittorrent speeds. For my NAS I found an optimum at 1470, but ... the NAS is preprogrammed for 1500, 3000, ... 8000 and am waiting for response from tech support as how to do it. It must be simple though as from brosing through the /etc/rc I noticed that the...

    Sudden problem opening GUI

Regarding the security software updates, they do occur, but doing an update doesn't change the exceptions that were added, and when I check, they are there.

    Sudden problem opening GUI

The situation has worsened, and I now cannot connect to the web interface anymore. I did notice that, as I have noticed before, my PC was getting assigned 2 IP numbers, for the same MAC. Might that have something to do with it? I also notice that the router feels much cooler than normally...

    Sudden problem opening GUI

If security software, then why does the problem show up after for some time having run ok? And I have always had the LAN IP numbers on the safe list. I use VIPRE, have even put the firewall in learning mode, such that it would ask me for permission to connect out or in, and nothing is being...

    Sudden problem opening GUI

I have tried FF, IE and chrome, and they all show the same problem. But if an issue with the firmware, why does it only demonstrate itself after a few weeks? I think that there must be another reason, but which one. It might be good to compare the exact configuration for those that have the issue.

    Sudden problem opening GUI

I suddenly have a weird problem with my RT AC66U, and I'm unable to display the web interface. When I enter the IP then I'm asked for username and password, but after that, I get stuck with a blank screen, no messages at all, and the browser (FF) shows it the router tab the rotating icon...

    BT issue

I changed the MTU back to 1500, but the problem remains. And a new issue. I cannot access the USB drive connected to the RT AC66U anymore. Windows gives me the message "insufficient resources". And that with only 4GB out of 16GB of memory used. Any advice please?

    BT issue

Something weird. Just to see what it would do, I changed the MTU from 1500 to 1480, and I did gain 10kB/s in bandwidth. However, since the change, I am unable to open the router's GUI. I need to reboot the router, and then I have access. The GUI askes me for login info, and next, it simply keep...

    BT issue

Thank you, and I have the same feeling. There must be an optimum. Are the packets too small, then the data amount becomes negligeable compared to the fixed header size and other info send with each packet. I remember a software tool to optimize the connection, MTU, TTL, ... If I remember right...

    BT issue

I just found some interesting info of how to limit the queuing: TCP Small Queues and Design Best Practices for Latency Optimization This paragraph might give a hint: When packets are coming into a router faster than they can leave, you will have queuing. The best way to avoid...
