    Upgrade from RT-AC68u to RT-AX86u

As a followup, setting up my new RT-AX86u was quite easy. I used my old network names and passwords with the new router, and that setup was easy with the Asus app (I did that on my iMac). Some of my router clients worked immediately with the new router. I just connected the others manually. I...

    Upgrade from RT-AC68u to RT-AX86u

Thanks, all. Very helpful suggestions! Now, as soon as "my" router makes it through the Suez Canal, I'll be off and running!

    Upgrade from RT-AC68u to RT-AX86u

In the next few months, I'm going to upgrade my router from my RT-AC68u to an RT-AX86u (when the vendors I'm watching have it in stock). I haven't found specific instructions for this task, so I'm wondering if this process will be simple or complicated. My plan is to: Save my old router...

    What happened to RT-AX86u?

Thanks, OzarkEdge and bbunge. B&H is one of the stores I check routinely. They're out of stock at the moment. Micro Center is in-store pickup only. I guess I'll have to wait...

    What happened to RT-AX86u?

I see that this router is out of stock in some places and not available elsewhere. Where it is available, it's $50 more than just a few weeks ago. Did this router get upgraded with a newer version?

Will WIFI 6 routers work with 2017 iMac?

So when I use these machines with an AX router, they would still work by defaulting to AC?

Will WIFI 6 routers work with 2017 iMac?

Thanks, heysoundude. When I do upgrade, it'll be either with the AX86u or the AX3000. One of these alone might be enough to cover my whole house (one floor) well. My main concern was whether my aging iMac and MBA would work OK with a wifi 6 router. I could just save my AC68u as a backup.

Will WIFI 6 routers work with 2017 iMac?

Thanks, heysoundude. I'd probably have to connect the ac68 node via wifi. Is that a no-no?

Will WIFI 6 routers work with 2017 iMac?

I hate to ask dumb questions, but will wifi 6 routers work with a 2017 iMac and a 2017 MacBook Air? And if an RT-ax86u or ax3000 were my main router, would each pair with an rt-ac68u in an aimesh network? Thanks.

Advice Wanted on Upgrading my RT-AC68u

Thanks, all, for the advice and comments. My inclination is to get the 86u and use my 68u as an aimesh node. At this point, though, I'd need to connect the node wirelessly, and I've read that that doesn't work well in an aimesh setup. Comments? Thanks again!

Advice Wanted on Upgrading my RT-AC68u

I currently use an RT-AC68u router in my one-story home, about 1900 square feet. The router works fine, even with the metal studs in the walls, except in the extreme ranges of the house and backyard. I'm in no rush, but I am thinking of upgrading the router to something that would broadcast a...

    Antenna direction and replacement questions

Can anyone suggest a set of three 7dBi antennas for an RT-AC68u router?

    Antenna direction and replacement questions

Thanks, all for the suggestions and comments! I'll experiment with antenna direction some more. I've had my antennas set up this way: \ | /. I'll try | | |. I'm going to try to move the router a bit, although I can't move it too far from its current location. Wired would be better, I know, but...
