[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.63_2 is now available

I've flashed this on top of 380.62 without any reset on my RT-AC87 and I've got no issues with it. I love having the QoS Statistics available now - using those, I've now found out that my favourite pay2win Android multiplayer game doesn't get categorized under "Gaming", but under "Default"...

QoS: only bandwidth limiter has effect

I've checked this now and set my download cap to 76mbit/s, which is 80% of my 95.x-mbit/s real-world maximum speed. I've checked the bufferbloat several times with both settings: The difference in latency is around 1-2ms, 3ms at most, meaning that I gain 1-3ms better latency when sacrificing...

QoS: only bandwidth limiter has effect

alright, that makes sense now. I haven't been able to test this, but I'd love to verify that it works. You'd need to start a skype session, while setting VoIP to the lowest priority within QoS and then start a speed-test that maxes out your connection while "file transfers", "other" and "web...

QoS: only bandwidth limiter has effect

O_o ...but it's working for me :) so, in order to avoid any confusion: You are saying that Adaptive QoS does not cap the bandwidth at the rate which the user sets as the maximum? I.e. that if you have a 100mbits/s line and you set "maximum download" to 80mbps/s, that it will use 100mbit/s...

QoS: only bandwidth limiter has effect

First of all sorry for the weeks long delay in my reply... haven't seen the notification until now and recently I don't log on here that often. 1. the ping from the phone times out in those cases, i.e. not all of the pings arrive when I try that 2. yes, the current bandwidth limit that I've...

QoS: only bandwidth limiter has effect

Hi, I was curious and have just tried exactly what you described: - a constant ping from my phone to 8.8.8.8 (which is between 48 and 57 ms) - then I maxed out my connection (download and upload) via speedtest from my laptop, connected via 5GHz wifi I was not able to see any fluctuation in...

    Asus rt-ac87u crashes

What? Is that true? That's the first time I'm reading this. I'm aware of the discussion regarding the new FCC rules and I remember that people were scared because of this, but the way I understood it was that there was no real concern and that only the Wi-Fi specific parts would be completely...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.59 is now available

I've upgraded my RT-AC87U to this firmware coming from 56_2 last night and it's been working flawlessly since then. Just want to give some QoS/CoDel feedback: My connection is rated 100mbits/s down, 20mbit/s up via VDSL. I've capped the Download speed at 94mbit/s and the Upload speed at...

    Development musings

I'd say less frequent releases, but the occasional alpha for testers sounds good. And maybe waiting for an acceptable GPL that could finally be used as the basis for an LTE release might really be a good idea. The question is just what the chances are, if there hasn't been a suitable one over...

    Asus rt-ac87u crashes

Those are old firmware versions. You should try 380.59 before trying or reporting anything else.

    Happy 4th anniversary to us!

Congratulations and Happy Birthday!! It must be difficult to support all those different models now, compared to four years ago. I was quite scared when all those rumors were being spread regarding the FCC and other organizations forcing router manufacturers to lock down their firmwares... and...

    WiFi unreachable, reboot needed

It's apparently some kind of complex software bug. I would assume that its implementation is quite deep within the system and that there's something that might crash some vital services or even cause a kernel panic, etc.. Maybe a memory leak, a buffer overflow... something like that.

    WiFi unreachable, reboot needed

Shut off anything that has to do with IPv6 and shut off the Traffic Analyzer as well (in case the AC56U has that one at all...I don't know). In general, it would be recommended to note down all your settings, perform a factory reset, enter the settings manually again and ensure you only enter...

    RT-AC87U High Gain Antennas

After seeing the reviews under that Amazon link I wouldn't be too optimistic... And the description contains a laundry list of seemingly compatible routers but the RT-AC87 isn't even among them.
