So, here's what's going on. Over the last couple years I've switched from Win to Linux Mint. I kept my old ASUS / RT-AX86U (AX5700) router that was configured under my old Win10 system and pretty much forgot about it, until now.

Yes I've used an app and my phone's WiFi setting which indicates network speed. Both show a signal degradation down to 0 Mbps.

I've tried every possible configuration to connect these 2 routers in a AIMesh mode but the wireless signal only lasts a few minutes and then the downstream router stops transmitting any signal while the main unit continues to work fine. They're connected on opposite sides of a single story 2500...

Don't know if I am too enamored with Linksys anymore as my perception is their quality has slipped somewhat since Cisco took over. My fear is the other brands may not be too far behind.
I realize this isn't an exact science but... I am leaning toward either the Netgear WNDR3700...
