    Blocked by Fiber Folk's Box

Have you tried cloning the MAC address of the existing router's WAN interface to your router before connecting to the ONT? DNS servers would only affect name resolution. First, make sure the router receives an IP address on the WAN interface via DHCP. Assuming no 802.1x, PPPoE, IPoE, hostname...

    Blocked by Fiber Folk's Box

Looking at https://www.zyxel.com/us/en/uploads/images/EMG6726-B10A_CAF.pdf , this device - on paper - supports bridge mode. There are no SFP interfaces, so the media conversion is done downstream. There's no technical reason for it to even be in place other than them creating a standardized...

Scribe Entware coreutils-uname breaks scribe installer

Of course, when installing add-ons via amtm, it's done interactively, thus that profile is in use and horked the process. Up until this point, I was blissfully ignorant of the idea that the uname binary would have any of those values statically compiled in during build and just presumed that it...

Scribe Entware coreutils-uname breaks scribe installer

Built-in is a function of busybox, and rmerlin has hardcoded the OS Name into the busybox config as ASUSWRT-Merlin whereas Entware's utilities stick to the more generic/standard GNU/Linux. It's not dependent upon /proc/sys/kernel/ostype (which usually just returns Linux) Ref...

Scribe Entware coreutils-uname breaks scribe installer

After engaging rmerlin at http://www.snbforums.com/threads/asuswrt-merlin-386-4-is-now-available.76498/post-733190 - this may be specific to my install. That said, it's also preventable. Because I have coreutils-uname installed via Entware as /opt/bin/uname, this breaks the Scribe script since...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.4 is now available

Actually, it would appear to be the Entware coreutils-uname package. Your suggestion is the quick fix. The right fix would be for scribe to explicitly call /bin/uname rather than relying on $PATH now that we're aware there's a difference. Thanks for the quick reply! Edit: I made the suggestion...

Scribe Entware coreutils-uname breaks scribe installer

After upgrading to Merlin FW 386.4, the scribe script no longer executes the installer. Because the error screen bails so quickly, users attempting to install via amtm never see the error. I ran through the steps manually to see a warning that the script requires ASUSWRT-Merlin w/ Entware...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.4 is now available

Dirty upgrade from 386.3_2 works fine other than the kernel operating system no longer reports ASUSWRT-Merlin, but rather GNU/Linux, which apparently breaks the installer for scribe as it's using uname -o to ensure it's on a Merlin firmware. @cynicastic will probably need to account for this...

Found a Rogue device in my network.

After restarting the router, you'll notice that almost EVERY device that remained connected and didn't solicit a new DHCP connection will identify as static. Once it attempts to renew its DHCP address, it'll return to dynamic.

[Coming Soon] New version notification system

Perhaps an opt-in method of disclosing the router model? I'd be okay with sharing it, but those who aren't, could just opt-out and point to the top-level directory. Many "casual" users may not even remember their router model.

5 GHz band flooded with other 5 GHz routers

Agree, and indicated that in my original reply. Linux (LiveCD/USB if needed) and MacBooks can easily show it on many adapters. Sent from my XT1095 using Tapatalk

5 GHz band flooded with other 5 GHz routers

I'm thinking of layer-1 utilization and interference. Constant streamers like cameras, Rokus, etc. could be "measured" that way, unless the stack is ignoring recognizable beacon/data frames as noise.

5 GHz band flooded with other 5 GHz routers

With newer AC technologies, your router may be consuming 4 (80MHz), or 4+4 (160MHz) channels in that band, which does make it more highly utilized. InSSIDer may not show that, and may only report the control channel. Fortunately, 5GHz range is nowhere near 2.4GHz, which may help. One thing to...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.59 is now available

Following up - tried this version again after a factory reset, then reapplying settings manually. IPv6 is fine now. Must have been something carrying up in the older .58 config DB. Sorry for the confusion.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.59 is now available

Confirming that IPv6 Native is "broken" in .59, but works fine in .58 on my RT-N66U. I didn't see anything specific in dmesg that would suggest why, but it was quickly obvious when a prefix was no longer assigned to my router for DHCP-PD. I'm on Cox HSI in the Phoenix area where dual-stack...
