    Issue with new Tenda MW6

Are you using the same SSID? Yes or no, I'd try going to the settings area on each phone and laptop itself, and using the "Reset Network Connection" option there (or whatever option is similar to that, depending on the device OS etc). Then set up each device once again to access the Tenda...

    How To Fix Wi-Fi Roaming

Awesome article, Tim - thanks! Near the end, you mention something that I think is a pretty big issue with these mesh-y systems like Orbi, Eero, etc... An average joe sees these systems in a store and thinks "Well heck, more must be better!!!", and they get wayyy too many satellite units...

Voxel Voxel's firmware for Orbi RBK50 system

I am also interested - thank you for considering the project!

ASUS Lyra Home Wi-Fi System Reviewed

I have the RBK50 (router and just 1 sat), and 100/10 Comcast service. My Orbi is my main routing unit on my modem (it's not an AP). I get ~120/12 on all devices connected to router or sat anywhere in my house and front/back yard (smaller city lot), so coverage and speeds are consistently...

ASUS Lyra Home Wi-Fi System Reviewed

I have yet to see a manufacturer's own support forum filled primarily with people singing the praises of the product ;) Almost all posts in such forums are always going to be about problems. I've had the Orbi since it launched last fall, and although I've never had any major issues with it...

NETGEAR's Orbi 2.0 Software Release has Mesh Daisy Chain Functionality

I have this unchecked (as I have for a long time before too)... My understanding is that "implicit" beamforming is for older (non-ac) devices, and I don't have any of those that move around the house. I haven't ever had any connection issues on my non-ac devices, so I figure there's no point...

    Netgear Orbi Firmware 1.12.0.18 issues

If you lurk on any support forums for just about any other mesh-type router, you'll see that the S8 is having problems on all of them - it seems most likely to be a Samsung issue.

    Computex 2017 Asus routers

    Ah yes, good point.

    Computex 2017 Asus routers

Yeah, it's interesting that they mention backhaul will be dedicated, but then don't go on to confirm it'll be one of the 5GHz radios specifically... After looking at their website again, I'm left with the impression that the dedicated backhaul channel would potentially vary between units 1-2...

Mesh Mashup Redux - NETGEAR's Orbi Checks In

I've had my Orbi since Nov, and have been very pleased with it overall... But... These last few f/w versions are indeed causing some disconnect issues for me that weren't previously there... I confess that only notice the disconnect issue when I try to use wifi-calling -- that worked fine up...

    Overall happiness with Orbi

Haha, sooo true! I've had it for ~5 months now, and I still love it overall. I consistently get full/max speeds from my ISP all over my whole house and exterior. No ongoing/consistent disconnect issues for me at all (and I use a mix of iOS/mac, Android, and various IoT devices), but if I use...

    Netgear Orbi discussion thread

Orbi sat(s) and router cannot be wired at this this time - unknown if that capability will be added down the road, but for now, wireless backhaul via star topology is only option.

    Netgear Orbi discussion thread

Comcast here too. With the 'Allow external IPv6 hosts ping internal IPv6 hosts' option unchecked on the debug page, I get 17/20 on ipv6-test.com (with a very occaissional 19/20 every now & then ... *shrug*), and solid greens on everything in the chappell test link. With that option checked on...

Clarify for me Mesh vs. AP

Good discussion of that overall question here... http://www.snbforums.com/threads/netgear-orbi-vs-two-routers-over-a-cable.35789 Cliff Notes summary: Yes, ethernet backhaul between router & AP wins every time & all day long over wireless backhaul. But since not everyone has the ability to...

    Apple Exiting Wi-Fi Router Biz

I agree with your thoughts on Airports being an early innovator... It seems like Apple - at one point - was incredibly well-positioned to totally dominate and run away with this "whole-home infiltration" market, and then they've just stalled these last couple years rather inexplicably with...
