I don’t think so. My network is cable to modem to router to four Ethernet cables simple as that. With the ac68u as router my laptop won’t connect to internet at the four Ethernet cables. With the isp free router instead they do. I just noticed my NAT acceleration (cut through forwarding) is on...

Thank you. But everything works perfectly if I replace my ac68u with the free isp router so the issue is likely with the router.

I don't know what's going on now (it's been a while since the heat of the discussion), but at least what used to be was that there were two kinds of rt68a, one with crippleware and one without. Basically what you need to do is to log into your router and check if there is 3G/4G dongle under USB...

Thank you RMerlin. I had a wrong impression then, I thought 68P is 1.3G and 68U is 1G. Turns out they are 1G and 800Mhz. Thanks again. Let me hope it lasts though, some refurbished 68p fail right out of 90 day warranty.

Bought a refurbished AC68P from Newegg. Merlin says cpu is 1Ghz rather than 1.3Ghz. Any ideas?

That's exactly what I did. The power LED never blinks. Router starts as usual.

someone on slickdeals had a thought: go into rescue mode, shovel a CFW down its throat. guess what? the ac68a won't go into rescue mode! pressing Reset and powering on does nothing.

The updated fw is 2895. It's all weird. Apparently there are two different FWs being distributed right now (maybe even HW), one fully functional and one crippled, and I'm the only one getting the crippleware...
