I loved my AC86U for the month we've had cause I use the 5g almost exclusively. But my wife and my printer need the 2.4 and it's really unstable. When it works it rocks, but it only works full speed 60% of the time I feel like. Instead of messing with RMA I'm just returning it to Amazon. Is...
Thanks so much! Purchased the AC86U and it's a fine upgrade. Don't even need mesh or other access points.
I'm a total Merlin noob - is there a good 1) quickstart guide to flashing with merlin and a 2) good settings overview cheatsheet?
Thanks so much!
Got about 150 mpbs coming from Comast Coax. The only big data need is when everyone is watching Netflix at once. My sons will be gamers probably a year from now. I also need something that provides more signal coverage.
The N66U mostly handles everything but when a device inadvertently hits...
I work at a small college and they want me to podcast this lecture series they have coming up. Lately I've just been taking down this old Marantz CF Card field recorder and hooking it up to the soundboard. But I'm thinking there's got to be an easier way.
What I'd like to do is hook up...
Trying to reach back bedroom in heavily dense 2.4ghz city neighborhood. Main router is N66U. Bought TP-LINK AV500 Powerline to run into back bedroom and hooked an old WRT54GL runnin dd-wrt up to it.
Set Linksys to Static IP and set DHCP Type to DHCP forwarder and gave it it's own SSID.
Is this...
Thanks for the advice!
So I tried John's fork firmware and did not see noticeable increase in 2.4ghz range.
The problem I have is I live in a crazy dense cluster of urban wifi insanity. Also I'd have to dig into the walls of our rented apt to run cable/ethernet to a central location...
Have an RT-N66U and have been loving it, but live in metropolis with crazy 2.4 interference. We also live in a long rectangle apt and our signal dies in our bedroom - opposite end from router.
I also think my downstairs neighbor is diabolical - her signal seems to better than mine no matter...
Just bought this RT-N66U and love it. Was wondering what how to utilize the USB functionality. Would like to set movie downloads to an external HD there so I can play on Roku/Plex... is this possible?
Thanks for the advice folks! Yes, I think for my needs, this will probably do fine.
Trouble is now I'm getting terrible reception from my older Roku on wireless. I need to upgrade ... but new Rokus don't have optical??! Wha?! I'm not going to invest in a new stereo just to get HDMI audio...
Thanks. Yes, I'm looking at getting a new media player some time in the next couple months - something like Roku or WD TV or Apple Tv - will they be coming out with AC compatible stuff?
So I just purchased this N66U, but that was before I read all this stuff about AC. Bottom line, for 50 more I could have the AC66U? Oh what should I do?!
I have a quick newb question about settings as well. There is a ton of wireless routers all around me and according to inssider, there's no one using the 5ghz channel! Does this mean I can get less interference?
