    Asus RT-AC68U won't factory reset

I'm assuming that just updating the firmware does not affect the IP address. Else if the router was being used as an AP, it would disappear from the network.

    Asus RT-AC68U won't factory reset

Thanks all. I'll try all those suggested options. Asus routers use 192.168.50.1? I have three active ASUS routers, an 88, an 86 and another 68 and they all were 192.168.1.1 out of the box. I'm pretty sure that my long deceased 66 was also.

    Asus RT-AC68U won't factory reset

I have this extra 1900 which I have used as a backup in case of problems with my active ASUS routers.Today I took it out of storage and I tried connecting it via Ethernet as an AP. The network is not AI Mesh. The setup went fine but when I tried to connect wirelessly with my iPhone it displayed...

    ASUS RT-68U Issue

The exact same thing happened to me. I tried all kinds of resets and firmwares but nothing helped. I finally bought a new 88U.

Logging into 192.168.1.1 always loading..(logging in via safe mode works though)

You wouldn't by any chance be using Avast for virus protection? Either turn off the Avast web shield temporarily or put 192.168.1.1 on the white list for Avast. This is a documented issue with the ASUS routers' UI and Avast and has been mentioned here before.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 3.0.0.4.270.25 is out

There used to be apps like that for iOS, but Apple pulled their certifications. All you have left for this purpose is the WLAN signal strength list under Settings/General/WiFi.

Router suddenly extremly slow and unstable!

Check out what happened to my router and how I fixed it: http://forums.smallnetbuilder.com/showthread.php?t=9253 There's good general troubleshooting advice in that thread. And you've already gotten good advice from DaveMishSr in this thread.

Erratic Router UI after power failure

Well, as it turns out, the last vestige of the problem (the Win 8 PC) is unrelated to either Win 8 or the routers. It is caused by Avast. All the Win 7 PCs have Microsoft's own A/V Security Suite. It got such lousy reviews, that for Win 8, I disabled it's successor, Windows Defender and...

Erratic Router UI after power failure

Here's an update. I took a chance and uploaded a fresh copy of the 260 firmware and that fixed the problem of the UI behaving erratically, except on the one Windows 8 PC (The Win 7 and iOS devices see the UI fine now). Now, that PC only gets to the login screen of the router and then times out...

Erratic Router UI after power failure

It's very possible. I will try that also. That could explain the erratic nature, since the all the devices use different browsers. The iOS devices use Chrome and Safari. The PCs use Chrome almost exclusively, so I would I would think that using either Firefox or IE wouldn't show that problem...

Erratic Router UI after power failure

Good idea. I saw that option and if the problem continues, I may try that.

Erratic Router UI after power failure

Erratic Router UI after power failure (SOLVED) We had a very short power failure where the power to our neighborhood went off for about a minute and then came back on. After this happened, the network seemed okay, but when I tried to go into the RT-N66U UI, some of the buttons were missing and...

    Windows 8 and Samba Drive

Microsoft must have fixed it with an update, because now the SMB drive is seen consistently across my LAN. There's nothing in the MS KB about which patch fixed it, but I'm not complaining.

    Windows 8 and Samba Drive

Yeah, yeah, I got curious and upgraded to Win 8, so this is my own fault. Of course, now my Samba USB drive in my RT-N66U is sometimes seen by the Win 8 PC and sometimes it isn't. This is a known bug with Win 8, which I only realized after searching with Google. There is registry hack to fix...

Can router firmware be infected with malware?

Actually, it's funny that you posted this. I ended up having to do what you said, because I have a dynamic IP address. As it turns out, when my IP address last changed about a week ago, the new IP address was on a blacklist for IP addresses that spam. The only way to fix it (short of contacting...
