    Release RT-AC86U 11th January 2021 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.41634

Hi Neil62, I totally agree. A CPU temperature of 100°C cannot be considered normal nor safe. I can't believe that Asus has found only this way to solve some issues (issues that I can't notice on 386.40451). If that's true, I agree that Asus should replace the affected routers. Hi Merlin, I...

    Release RT-AC86U 11th January 2021 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.41634

I agree, it seems that they don't completely understand the implications of a CPU running near to 100° C for a long time. I also had my RT-AC86U running smoothly for years with cpuwait on, so I truly don't understand what Asus is trying to fix in that way. Anyway, do you know if there is a way...

    Release RT-AC86U 11th January 2021 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.41634

Hi all, this issue with CPU temperature is very annoying, I really don't understand how can be possible that Asus try to fix a problem burning the CPU. Really disappointed... is there a way to set the values of pwr config --wait and --eee to on and let them survive to the reboot of the router...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

Hi tdhite, about temps, 15/20 degrees higher could be a problem for me because now is winter here and i have 80 degrees and the temp will surely rise next summer, going dangerously near to the CPU shutdown temp. Moreover I really don't understand the reason of this difference, now I'm on stock...

    Release Asus AC86U New Firmware - 3.0.0.4.386_40451-g30f1b6c

Hi bbunge, about the issues, I don't think that it's safe to ignore the CPU temperature: we're talking about an average of 15/20 degrees above the 386.40451 stock firmware temperature, with spikes (reported by many people in Merlin's beta firmware thread) of 100 degrees with CPU forced shutdown...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

Hi tdhite, in my opinion a temperature of 79 degrees instead of 64 isn't so normal, with some people reporting also 90 degrees or more, even with some CPU forced stops. But, as I stated before, that's my personal opinion and nothing more. What about the Traffic Analyzer and QoS bandwidth...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

Thank you Jack, but I observed the situation for many days with the build 386.1 beta 3. Now I'm on the build 386.1 beta 4 since 4 hours and 47 minutes (I restored immediately the CPU wait to on) and the average CPU temperature is still 5 degrees higher than the version 384.19. I agree with...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

That's true, less worries! :D For now, I will revert back to the official 3.0.0.4.386.40451 firmware. The only problem I had with that version is an occasional drop on the 2.4 Ghz wifi, I think that I can try to address it by playing with the professional wifi settings. It's a pity, because I...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

I agree. I restored the CPU wait to on, but the average temperature is still 5 degrees higher than the builds 384.19 and 386.40451. Something has changed with the new GPLs of the 386.1 firmware and it isn't so good for RT-AC86U. It's really a pity, I'm a bit disappointed, but they're still beta...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

Thank you Merlin! Unfortunately, on RT-AC86U, Traffic Analyzer Statistics, Traffic Monitor and QoS Bandwidth Monitor continue to report completely wrong values. Also Traffic Monitor continues to go out of scale. As I told by my last post, it seems that Asus fixed these problems only for...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

It seems to be fixed for RT-AX86U in the next beta GPL from Asus that Merlin will merge in the future releases. It's surely not fixed for RT-AC86U because I've already tested the next official beta GPL from Asus and the problem is still there. It's really a pity that Asus hasn't solved this...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

Hi all, I'm now again on Merlin 386.1 beta 3 because I like the features of Merlin's firmware and also because I had some drops of wifi connection on latest stock firmware. The problem of the Bandwidth Monitor/Traffic Analyzer is still there for RT-AC86U also on new Asus beta 9.0.0.4.386.41535...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

I'm happy to know that Asus has solved this problem on RT-AX86U. Unfortunately, on my RT-AC86U, bandwidth monitor and also traffic monitor and statistics are under-reporting: 6 GB are reported as 14 MB in traffic monitor statistics and 50 Mbps are reported as about 100 Kbps in QoS Bandwidth...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

I'm worried about it because it's winter here, the temperature of the environment isn't so high and the CPU temperature goes around 80°C or even higher. I think that it is an Asus bug in this GPL, because I cannot see a reason to justify it and it seems to affect only RT-AC86U and RT-AX86U. On...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

Hi Merlin and hi all, unfortunately, on my RT-AC86U, the 386.1 beta 3 continues to have the problem of the statistics. I deleted the TrafficAnalyzer.db file and restarted the router, but nothing changed. I confirm also that CPU temperature is 10/11C higher if compared to the stock firmware...
