    This is sort of an old thread, but just wanted to share a solution to those who wanted to tie in the guest wireless with a new wired vlan. There are only a few lines added to the original script.     I would do both. I'm not sure what the default timeout is, but remember it's setting 3 values (DNS, connect, and read). This is what I did: wget -q --tries=3 --timeout=15 ... Not sure what the default timeouts are, but this way I know what to expect. wget leaves it up to the system.

    @swetoast, I tried adding the timeout independently. I also added --tries=3. Maybe I'm impatient, but the timeout by itself didn't seem to be working.

    This looks like reconnaissance rather than an outright attack. The python -V looks like just a version (or testing for existence of Python). Looks to me like the use case is "What are you running" and "Where can you go".
