    Full new network

@degrub thx again / duly noted @Tech9 --> very good point... but that means that if the controller is down, the whole network is? (I thought that network could continue to operate as configured, but logging, surveillance and configuration would be off) and would some pure injector like this...

    Full new network

hi again, @degrub thank you for your answer, I was thinking more in large file movements within the network, but budget wise is out of reach, so I'll stick to 1Gbps really thinking about getting all-in omada. Will it make sense to get something like this TP-Link ES224G Switch (much cheaper than...

    Full new network

@Tech9 , Thank you for your answers. But : -for the switch I have a TL-SG1024DE https://www.tp-link.com/en/business-networking/easy-smart-switch/tl-sg1024de/ which might not be a fully "managed" but is neither fully unmanaged, and can certainly handle VLANs - as for the router ER605...

    Full new network

Dear all... I finally bought an old house and I made some renovation work and I put rj45 with cat6e cable everywhere I could... So I'm about to start the patch panel and putting a network rack and a home-lab server to "run" the house. So I'm trying to get everything well configured from the...

    Killswitch / port control

Hi, I have a raspberry-pi working as a torrent box (with headless raspberry pi OS), I installed nordvpn but the Killswitch might be not working. I catch it once with connection lost and still internet access, so now I don't fully trust it. So I wonder if: 1) is there any other way to...

    RT-AC86U client list outdated

Yeah, reboot works for me too... But for me is not even a workaround... After reboot for some hours (maybe even 1-2 days) the client list gets accurate information, if I disconnect or connect a device, it will show, but after some days it gets "frozen"... Same behavior with Asus firmware or merlin

    RT-AC86U client list outdated

Just a follow-up: - I installed Merlin 386.1 for a completely different issue (I needed to use PBR...) [my issue on another thread] and as a "byproduct" the client list seems to be working fine (as expected) [Edit 2021-02-15] Nope... Some devices are still showing on the client list long after...

Solved Asus RT-AC86U OpenVPN server behind ISP modem

Just a follow-up: - I installed Merlin 386.1: pretty straight forward - I followed up this https://support.nordvpn.com/Connectivity/Router/1047410642/AsusWRT-Merlin-setup-with-NordVPN.htm to set up the VPN client (a bit different than for stock firmware) - I added all Asus-wrt traffic under VPN...

Solved Asus RT-AC86U OpenVPN server behind ISP modem

Not sure how to do that [edit] "not sure how" is an understatement, I get the idea, but "I have no clue" would be more accurate ;) [edit end] ... y e s . . . because I haven't had any good reason to change it, but if Marlin would make my life easier, I wouldn't have any problem to try it out
