Hi,
I was wondering the same thing. For me the RT-AX55 (https://wikidevi.wi-cat.ru/ASUS_RT-AX55) is the same than RT-AX56U (https://wikidevi.wi-cat.ru/ASUS_RT-AX56U_v2) without the USB port.
I understand the AX56U is supported while I am not sure v2 is (less memory and flash?)...
Yes that is the plan. Mesh has the huge advantage that you do not need multiple access point names ... might be possible with repeater but that touch my network competence limit :-D
For example having a power meter you switch place regularly ... now with repeater I need to change the...
Indeed I do not need advanced functionalities but problems started when I updated all with latest asus summer firmware so tried Merlin instead …
from hardware point they all seem to work fine both from reliability and my speed needs that would justify investment …
that is why I was thinking...
Has the situation changed?
This is my network:
- RT-AX68U (main router)
- RT-AX55
- RT-AC66U_B1
- RT-AC1900
So far (last firmware update was back to 2021) all this was working in Mesh using Asus firmware.
Then I have a smart device having issue with IEEE 802.11R that I could not connect and...
I have the same question and cannot find answers.
I do understand having same firmware brings potentially stability but does Merlin brings any other functionalities/benefits for a node?
Seems I got it all wrong then :-D
Yes I have a usb disk
No I did not try to reboot before
Will try that! But at least with all in 384 (even if router with asus firmware) seems to brought some stability. The 385 really put a mess!
Well I thought it works! The documentation says
https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/wiki/Supported-Devices
List of supported models:
RT-AC66U_B1 (use the RT-AC68U firmware)
RT-AC68U, RT-AC68P, RT-AC68UF
RT-AC2900 (use the RT-AC86U firmware)
RT-AC1900 & RT-AC1900P (use the RT-AC68U...
Hi,
Here is my setup in AIMesh
RT-AC2900 => router
RT-AC66U_B1 => Node
RT-AC1900U => Node
Everything looked ok at first and I did the mistake to update firmware from ASUS where it seems only RT-AC66U_B1 & RT-AC1900U got a new version (3.0.0.4.385.20252) while the RT-AC2900 stays in old...
Hi,
actually it does not fully idle ... at least in USB 2.0 mode. I can hear the disk spinning and seems not disconnected after a whole night.
Move back to USB 3.0 to check if spinning down when I lose it .... there is specific energy control for USB 3.0 protocol?
Well it was much simple .... rebooting the router fixed the issue!
So it seems this is more a bug in Asus firmware than any kind of energy setting in the hdd!
Any possibility to restart the usb interface without rebooting?
Some hint there...
