I have the same question and cannot find answers. I do understand having same firmware brings potentially stability but does Merlin brings any other functionalities/benefits for a node?

Hi, actually it does not fully idle ... at least in USB 2.0 mode. I can hear the disk spinning and seems not disconnected after a whole night. Move back to USB 3.0 to check if spinning down when I lose it .... there is specific energy control for USB 3.0 protocol?

Well it was much simple .... rebooting the router fixed the issue! So it seems this is more a bug in Asus firmware than any kind of energy setting in the hdd! Any possibility to restart the usb interface without rebooting? Some hint there...
