Mixing AC and AX routers in a mesh.

Yes that is the plan. Mesh has the huge advantage that you do not need multiple access point names ... might be possible with repeater but that touch my network competence limit :-D For example having a power meter you switch place regularly ... now with repeater I need to change the...

Mixing AC and AX routers in a mesh.

Indeed I do not need advanced functionalities but problems started when I updated all with latest asus summer firmware so tried Merlin instead … from hardware point they all seem to work fine both from reliability and my speed needs that would justify investment … that is why I was thinking...

Mixing AC and AX routers in a mesh.

Has the situation changed? This is my network: - RT-AX68U (main router) - RT-AX55 - RT-AC66U_B1 - RT-AC1900 So far (last firmware update was back to 2021) all this was working in Mesh using Asus firmware. Then I have a smart device having issue with IEEE 802.11R that I could not connect and...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC3-1 public beta

Hi great job! Is the aim to include also RT-AX55 in this RC? Unless mistaken I have seen it was supposed to be already in RC2.

Benefits of MerlinWRT on Aimesh nodes?

    Sounds like fun enough!

Benefits of MerlinWRT on Aimesh nodes?

Can they be used for anything else than coverage in node mode with Merlin like webcam server?

Benefits of MerlinWRT on Aimesh nodes?

I have the same question and cannot find answers. I do understand having same firmware brings potentially stability but does Merlin brings any other functionalities/benefits for a node?

    Asus AC2900 + RT-AC66U_B1 + RT-AC1900U to Merlin

    Asus AC2900 + RT-AC66U_B1 + RT-AC1900U to Merlin

Seems I got it all wrong then :-D Yes I have a usb disk No I did not try to reboot before Will try that! But at least with all in 384 (even if router with asus firmware) seems to brought some stability. The 385 really put a mess!

    Asus AC2900 + RT-AC66U_B1 + RT-AC1900U to Merlin

    Well I thought it works! The documentation says https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/wiki/Supported-Devices List of supported models: RT-AC66U_B1 (use the RT-AC68U firmware) RT-AC68U, RT-AC68P, RT-AC68UF RT-AC2900 (use the RT-AC86U firmware) RT-AC1900 & RT-AC1900P (use the RT-AC68U...

    Asus AC2900 + RT-AC66U_B1 + RT-AC1900U to Merlin

Hi, Here is my setup in AIMesh RT-AC2900 => router RT-AC66U_B1 => Node RT-AC1900U => Node Everything looked ok at first and I did the mistake to update firmware from ASUS where it seems only RT-AC66U_B1 & RT-AC1900U got a new version (3.0.0.4.385.20252) while the RT-AC2900 stays in old...

ASUS AC2900 (AC86U) does not find Seagate disk when in sleep mode

Hi, actually it does not fully idle ... at least in USB 2.0 mode. I can hear the disk spinning and seems not disconnected after a whole night. Move back to USB 3.0 to check if spinning down when I lose it .... there is specific energy control for USB 3.0 protocol?

ASUS AC2900 (AC86U) does not find Seagate disk when in sleep mode

Well it was much simple .... rebooting the router fixed the issue! So it seems this is more a bug in Asus firmware than any kind of energy setting in the hdd! Any possibility to restart the usb interface without rebooting? Some hint there...

ASUS AC2900 (AC86U) does not find Seagate disk when in sleep mode

... Let's try to change it to active mode ... but failed! sudo SeaChest_PowerControl -d /dev/sdb --transitionPower --powerMode active ========================================================================================== SeaChest_PowerControl - Seagate drive utilities - NVMe Enabled...
