    Review request: Netgear WNR3500v2/WNR3500L

max sessions as in connected clients or max bittorrent connections? is there any practical disadvantages to having less than 2k of connected clients?

    A question of range (802.11n) . . .

nice work dude. i suppose if you used a pair of those rabbit ears, you could get very reliable 99% uptime with good speeds.

In layman's terms, that means better reliability with greater range?

    802.11n Adapter roundup

Here's the catch with the Intel 5300. It's very dependent on the antenna design of the OEM. Lenovo has ultraconnect 3x3 hooked to their 5300 and most OEM uses a 2x2 design. I have to think that there's some variation due to that.

    SmallNetBuilder's Wireless FAQ: The Essentials

dohh, how i missed the details! So it will be a bonded 300mbps link, kinda like a RAID array for hdd with double redundancy. I guess that's why Netgear is marketing the 3004 as a pair and can't be bought separate, because you need to have 4x4 mimo to take advantage of what it has to offer.

    TRENDnet Announces Three-Stream N Router

It's a shame they are operating on 2.4ghz. Is that a compromise worth investing in? To attain any benefit, you would have to operate on 40mhz channels full time and crowd out anything else around it. Not to mention the interference on the 2.4ghz band. 450mbps at 2.4ghz seems like a pipe dream.

    SmallNetBuilder's Wireless FAQ: The Essentials

The article you linked to did not mention any Netgear stuff but the Quantanna has 4x4mimo. The netgear presser was very vague on specifics, whether it has 300mbps or 450mbps. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and assume it's 450mbps. Although, technically a 4x4 mimo can have 4 stream...

    SmallNetBuilder's Wireless FAQ: The Essentials

The new WNHDB3004 seems like the same as the old 111 you reviewed a year ago. Still 5ghz band only, 300mbps, 10/100 ethernet. What did they change? I guess the 4x4 mimo will give better coverage than 3x3mimo assuming you have clients with 4x4 mimo antennas?

Multiple access points in the home

Hi, I have several routers that I am converting into access points to boost signal coverage in my house. I have the necessary ethernet runs to each AP location. My question is do I set up each AP with the same SSID as the main router but with different channels or do I set up each AP with same...

Tangible difference between 2x2 and 3x3 AP?

haha yeah. but do you think a 3x3 test client would benefit your Location E and F throughputs with 3x3 diversity routers today?

Tangible difference between 2x2 and 3x3 AP?

actually 2x2 is enough for 300mbps. 3x3 with 3 streams would theoretically provide 450mbps, but all routers today are 3x3 with 2 streams so they are still limited to 300mbps. Basically each stream is 150mbps.

Tangible difference between 2x2 and 3x3 AP?

I know some cheaper N routers only have 2x2 diversity ant like the Linksys WRT160n and Netgear WNR2000. Does the 3x3 diversity in more expensive routers make that much of a difference? I understand they are all still dual streams, but does the extra diversity antenna provide tangible benefits in...
