    I currently have a AC68U but I will be giving it away to my father in law. Currently leaning towards the AC86U but people seems to be having boot loop issue and the 2.4ghz band dying. My other choice is the Synology RT2600AC and the R7800 (Not a big fan of the firmware - although strong Wifi)...

    What if I get the 86u as main and 68u as a node? Would that work out? Will I get smart connect with that setup?

    Is it worth buying another 68u to do AIMesh? my main router is also a 68u. I need to go over the thread and see how the wifi performance expectation

    I want to buy a new router and I have a couple of questions.

    You might wanna go on staples(dot)com and look up the R7800 today to see if you can find one in your area. Its $130 and if you do visa check out, you get additional $25 off I just picked one up this morning. That price was hard to pass up.

    what would you recommend over the RT-AC2600? The AC86U or wait for something else? I almost pulled the trigger on the Synology just now, but after reading your comment. Took it out of my cart lol (currently using RT-AC1900P)

    Migrate RT-AC68U to RT-AC86U

    I tried the 86U for a few hours yesterday but ended up returning it. Range was the same compare to my RT-AC1900P and didn't feel it was worth $200 over my current one.

    Does anyone know if the AC86U supports Aimesh currently? Does both router have to be on 382 for aimesh to work?
