Advice needed on Access Points system (Unifi / Omada / Netgear / Zyxel / Grandstream / Dlink)

You are right, Grandstream is historically a VoIP brand and therefore I check all known systems first. I am always sceptical and take reviews with a grain of salt. This is also true for well-known brands, as the opinions depend heavily on use cases that are different from mine.

Advice needed on Access Points system (Unifi / Omada / Netgear / Zyxel / Grandstream / Dlink)

Thanks for the reply. The point is clear. I will wire all APs and test the rest of available options (Zyxel and Cisco) step by step. I was not looking at devices with 6Ghz and I know that 160Mhz does not make sense in my case.

Advice needed on Access Points system (Unifi / Omada / Netgear / Zyxel / Grandstream / Dlink)

I would not decide based on marketing. Having limited experience in the topic I seek for advice/opinions and evaluate arguments. Recently there was a review of the U7pro. Did you mean that the following argument from the review does not matter? An expert stated that "Although most Wi-Fi clients...

Advice needed on Access Points system (Unifi / Omada / Netgear / Zyxel / Grandstream / Dlink)

Thank you, I've got that point. Being able to manage all connected APs from one UI is certainly convenient. My concern with Cisco APs is that the 150AX, for example, only has 2x2 MIMO, whereas other vendors offer 3x3 and even 4x4 with 2.5 GBE POE. And it is in the same price range of 100-150...

Advice needed on Access Points system (Unifi / Omada / Netgear / Zyxel / Grandstream / Dlink)

Many thanks for detailed explanations. I will reconsider TP-Link as they are the lowest in price per APs. The only concern with TP-Link is that the signal from either EAP653 or EAP650, which I tested for about a week, was much weaker on both 2,4 Ghz (20Mhz) and 5 Ghz (80Mhz) bands. I set up...

Advice needed on Access Points system (Unifi / Omada / Netgear / Zyxel / Grandstream / Dlink)

I bought two TP-Link APs and setup Omada SW controller on Unraid. If I adopt APs on the wire they do not show "mesh" in the controller UI. May be the roaming will work, I could not understand that. TP-Link also defines their mesh as wireless feature only. If you have another experience please inform

Advice needed on Access Points system (Unifi / Omada / Netgear / Zyxel / Grandstream / Dlink)

I need an advice, please and stated my findings about different Wifi systems, trying to understand how far they are from what I aim to. I have tried myself some systems already. I returned the HW back after I understood that it does not fit the purpose: - Zyxel has a weird WebUI, but good...

Advice needed on Access Points system (Unifi / Omada / Netgear / Zyxel / Grandstream / Dlink)

thanks, I know that standalone APs do not need a controller and manageable from WebUI. My aim is to setup a wired mesh with something like roaming between the APs. This is not possible without a cloud -Nebula

Advice needed on Access Points system (Unifi / Omada / Netgear / Zyxel / Grandstream / Dlink)

Many thanks for the hint. I did not know that OPNsense has a package with Unifi SW controller. I will give OPNsense a try. Nevertheless, it is still on FreeBSD 13.2, although pfsense is on the version 14.0.

Advice needed on Access Points system (Unifi / Omada / Netgear / Zyxel / Grandstream / Dlink)

Hello everyone! I use Asus routers with Aimesh for a long time and I was satisfied of their performance. Nevertheless, I decided to give pfsense a try and use it for 3 months already. Now I wish to setup new network with HW or VM pfsense, managed switch, local AP controller (no cloud) and 2x...

GL.iNet worth a try? Any advantage over ASUS?

Good device, no doubts. The question of the topic starter was about alternatives for upgrade of the existing ASUS AC router. As I can see the Asus GT-AX6000 would be a logical path and it is in the same price range as GL-MT6000. In addition AX6000 has lots of benefits in Merlin FW, Aimesh etc...

amtm Creating a 2GB Swap file in amtm lasts forever, what's wrong?

Hello everyone, thanks again for the recommendations. Setting up the router with the NVME drive in USB case was much faster than with USB-Sticks before. Very responsive and lightning fast. The temperature of the case remains about 40 degrees Celsius, as I chosen the case with the closing alu-lid...

amtm Creating a 2GB Swap file in amtm lasts forever, what's wrong?

Thanks to all of you. I have ordered an USB-NVME enclosure and will move the NVME OCZ 256Gb Gen3 drive from Unraid server to the router. It will be also overkill, but given the marginal price difference it makes more sense if Asus goes with the 3.2 Gen2 USB ports in the future.

amtm Creating a 2GB Swap file in amtm lasts forever, what's wrong?

Thanks for the hint. Is there any difference in speed or anything on Asus router between SATA, m2 SATA and m2 NVME? What kind of SSD makes more sense in this case?

amtm Creating a 2GB Swap file in amtm lasts forever, what's wrong?

Thanks, I am going to buy one. The question is what kind of an external SSD is recommended: USB with 1) 2,5" SSD, 2) m2 SATA or 3) m2 NVME? What would be the most reliable and quick?
