It doesn't matter. The router CPU is limiting the transfer speeds.

Lesson learned - don't try to turn a good router into a server.

That's why I bought my own Dell PowerEdge (used) server from Newegg, and spec'd it out with a crapload of large redundant SSDs in order to turn it into a local media server... such a great buy, and so solid!!

Hello everyone,
thanks again for the recommendations. Setting up the router with the NVME drive in USB case was much faster than with USB-Sticks before. Very responsive and lightning fast. The temperature of the case remains about 40 degrees Celsius, as I chosen the case with the closing alu-lid instead of the sliding cover.
The issue is resolved.
