No this was a unused router due to faulty wifi.
As you can plainly see it was on the latest firmware and it didn't reject the wrong firmware.
By trying you would have noticed rejection is right away and not partway through.
The first router is a paper weight although i didn't toss it and may...
?
I am going to guess you haven't flashed many of these because that made no sense.
It informs your right away that the upgrade was unsuccessful not part of the way through its not how things work.
Don't take my word for it though as i am sure Merlin and everyone else here can confirm that for...
Figure i save you the pain and maybe the router.
Crappy one handed quality to put it mildly but good enough for the job.
Didn't bother recording to the end as there was no point
It would appear so.
From what i understand the restoration method shouldn't allow for the flashing of the wrong firmware either but it did for the other guy.
So there clearly something wrong which allows this when it would normally be impossible to do so.
Nope although i did try restoring after the fact which of course failed not unsurprisingly.
Irony is i noticed my mistake just after i had started the flash but figured i was fine and it would just fail but boy did i get a suprise lol.
I didn't force it i just uploaded like normal.
I think it because the models are so close in name that it didn't stop it.
My own fault of course with some help from the cataracts (just found out last month) i ended up not noticing the x instead of the c .
Life is never boring it seems.
Soooo turns out if you flash the ax86 firmware rather then the ac86 firmware onto a ac86 things get quite weird.
You can get into the router but you can no longer upgrade the firmware be it through the ui or recovery firmware.
Think it may be checking for ax firmware rather then ac firmware...
Tried all the above.
Although given the abuse it had it likely was wearing out anyway. For a year it was running a restaurant and took far more abuse they it was meant to so it was likely time for a upgrade and all mess with it given time and who knows maybe it can be brought back to life.
So word of warning but you can accidentally flash the AX86 firmware on the Ac86 routers. This doesn't completely brick the router but it does seriously mess it up.
Wireless shall no longer work obviously and the only light on the router is the port four light regardless of a cable being...
Got a question from a friend asking if it was possible to block all traffic not going through a vpn.
My understanding is the condo complex he working with wants to keep people from abusing the internet they provide or at the least for them to use a vpn so they are not getting death treats from...
Thanks to Eric and Asus backing him the Asus routers are much better then most but they do seem to have blinders on when it comes to certain issues.
Dual wan isn't the most complicated thing to do but maybe because it not in such big demand at the moment it gets ignored.
Ended up having to...
