    Doesn't using the asus app remotely mean you have to Enable Web Access from WAN? Which isn't the best thing to do for security.

    What you are suggesting will cost alot more than an Asus Router running merlin. And most people at home just don't have a use for an "enterprise grade" setup at home. Of course there will be some that can but most on here probably not.

    ASUS RT-AX88U with Asuswrt-Merlin firmware - Few queries

    Its been great for me so far. I'm hoping the next model will support 1/2.5/5/10 Gbps on the WAN port and one additional LAN port with the same speeds and 2GB of Ram :)

    Thanks for the follow up. I don't have dig installed so that would explain that one. However there shouldn't be anything blocking 8.8.8.8 on my side so that one I will have to look into.
