Compatible Stock FW for AiMesh Merlin

After doing some reading, I though I would ask the obvious question, given then issues with merlin and AiMesh. What stock firmware for the node, pairs well with the merlin router (386.5_2)? Currently running two RT-AX68U. I have been trying different firmware for weeks to no avail. Thanks
