    How to boost External wifi?

Hi, I am looking to project my wifi signal to my back garden as, although I have good internal wifi, size of my house and location of my mesh satellites I can't just have another one that may well project the signal externally as there will be simply too much wifi in the house. I currently have...

Typical expected drop in speed wired over wireless

I know, it's not the best set up. But, for the moment, that is where things need to be. I will move them when I have time. I've not tried moving the router yet. to be fair, didn't think it was worth it as it's only the S21 that has issues. It's like having a second teenager.

Typical expected drop in speed wired over wireless

Although not specifically the same situation, i.e. this is about the S22 and a different router, think this is more or less the problem. This is taken from the XDA forum. May need to either poke up with it in the hope there will be a fix or, change the mesh system.

Typical expected drop in speed wired over wireless

Ok, so a little more adjusting of the set up last night. It really is the Galaxy S21 Ultra that's annoying/ having the most issues with being moved from node to node etc. I turned off wifi 6 to see what would happen. well, the S21 moves nodes and doesn't really stick to the router. Interesting...

Typical expected drop in speed wired over wireless

That's cool chief. Am good about fluctuations and understand that. There is an issue and I think it's my S21 Ultra. I love my Samsungs but this is driving me nuts. We have several devices, laptops, phones and tablets of various brands. Did another test tonight, walked away from the router until...

Typical expected drop in speed wired over wireless

I can adjust the power but this is a blanket adjustment so will keep as it is for the minute. I can also adjust the rssi value as well. This is currently set to -70dBm I'm not sure which direction this should go in. My S21 is currently up stairs and linked to the main router downstairs with a...

Typical expected drop in speed wired over wireless

The penny has dropped about coax. Unfortunately not, only satellite cable which comes into the house at a single point.

Typical expected drop in speed wired over wireless

Ok, so, I now have just 2 XT8's in the house in Access Point mode. All good and getting good speed all around the house. Now, this may just be a Samsung issue which will be really irritating. Sometimes when I go from the study to ground (ground is upload link to the router), the phone is moved...

Typical expected drop in speed wired over wireless

Thanks. Not tried moving or wall mounting just yet. It's just awkward where my home office is located in the house and where the node is connected on the first floor.

Typical expected drop in speed wired over wireless

That works turning the wifi on and off on the device, obviously not ideal. Will try with just one node on the first floor. Yes, they can be used in Media Bridge mode (Asus ZenWifi AX XT8 nodes/ routers) so may try that and see how that works. It may also be possible to move the first floor...

Typical expected drop in speed wired over wireless

I do have another question. How do I force devices to connect to the nearest node? I ask as my iPhone 11 when I'm upstairs and then go down stairs will connect to the node downstairs but my Samsung Galaxy 21 Ultra won't. It likes the first floor node too much and therefore, has slower connection...

Typical expected drop in speed wired over wireless

Well, eventually got round to doing this and then testing the speed around the house. With 1 'router/ node' hard wired to my BT router (which is connected to the net) I get 400mb + in all rooms on the ground floor. Meaning too much wifi! Interesting, I new different signals would interfere but...

Wireless Router/ AiMesh mode over Access Point

Thank you. Have switched back to router mode for the minute to see how that works which it was doingpretty good. Had to reduce the security to wpa/wpa2 as max as one of my devices (a weather station) doesn't like wpa2/wpa3. The choice of using the zen WiFi was by chance really, did some...

Wireless Router/ AiMesh mode over Access Point

Sorry, my mistake, no TP-Link pony. ASUS Zen WiFi AX6600 mesh system (unless that's TP-Link in disguise )
