Neet budget AIMesh node for RT86U

Thanks for the reply. However, that model is twice the price. Also, the wife doesn't want a black box with antennas (sigh).

Neet budget AIMesh node for RT86U

I have a new AX86U router that performs almost perfectly. However, it's on the 3rd floor at the North end of the house. New Cat6 wiring has been run to the first and second floors at the South end. A couple of rooms need a small boost. What's known about the AX1800 *Repeater* (as distinct from...

    I need a plan

So let me get this straight. Here's a table of the existing temporary SIDs Freq Router Name 2.4 AX86U M1 5 AX86U M2 2.4 AC68U M1AP 5 A68U M2AP You're saying boil this down to M1 and M2 for both routers? Regards, mjclifford

    I need a plan

I’ve lurked on this site for many years and, even after due diligence, have some questions. Please excuse the extensive elaboration. I’ve just upgraded to a RT-AX86U, which replaced an AC68U. The former is still running stock firmware (3.0.0.4.386_41535)in the wireless router operational mode)...

Transfer settings from one router to another

I have a spanking new RT-AX86U and wish to transfer the settings from an AC68U to it. The AC68 is running Merlin 384.5 and the new one will (temporarily) run the latest stock firmware. Screen caps have been taken of all panels of the old but I'm worried about the manual transfer of DHCP...

    goCoax MoCA 2.5 adapter

Been down this road and I found the same thing; a manual reset could keep the net up, albeit temporarily. There may still be two issues. First, a power blip may kill the desired MoCa connection (we have plenty of them here). You would need a UPS on every MoCa box. Secondly, the cable boxes may...

    goCoax MoCA 2.5 adapter

ISSUE SOLVED! Summary below. A network of two GoCoax devices was installed in a network, in order to run an Access unit (AP) from the theater room (Master) on the third floor to the second (Living Room). MoCa compatible splitters were used. Upon installation, the all three lights on the Master...

    goCoax MoCA 2.5 adapter

< You don't need a stand alone PVR anymore > It's just a simple cable box with no DVR capability. < .. were you able to use the cable box once the MoCA network was up and running? > Yes I didn't mention anything about power over ethernet. Right now, the MoCa network works if the X1 device...

    goCoax MoCA 2.5 adapter

There were two Eureka moments. The first was that the Xfinity box, which was I thought only a sample streamer of content. was also a Moca device. The second was that a synch of GoCoax devices could be achieved if the connection to the Xfinity device was momentarily interrupted. I had no issues...

    goCoax MoCA 2.5 adapter

Thanks, degrub. The problem was traced to the XFinity X1 set top box also being a Moca device (relabled DVR Anywhere). It highjacked the synch operation of the two goCoax devices. I'll have much more to say on this when another POE device arrives in the mail.

    goCoax MoCA 2.5 adapter

I have a question about my first Moca network. Two goCoax boxes have been working for two days at full network speeds without fail, but also without the use of our cable box and a POE filter. Allow me to explain. See the wiring diagram (Revised MOCA Schematic). These are the only cables...

Any clear instructions for setting up an AP?

Here's an update that my benefit other newbies. I was able to set up the N66 to function as an AP. The same SSIDs were used with different channels. The ethernet cable was strung down from the main router on the third floor down to the first floor at the back of the house. However, due to metal...

Any clear instructions for setting up an AP?

I have an RT-AC68U as the main router, on the third floor. Reception on the first floor is spotty and I therefore wish to retask an N66, most likely in an AP role. There is a cat 5-E wired connection and/or Powerline adapters are working, so a wired backhaul can be used. Most of the directions...

    RT-AC86U stock vs merlin

< What was your final solution, did you try Asus Stock? > Here's an update on my situation. I'm simply doing nothing at the moment. To be clear, my plans were to purchase an upscale ASUS model for the third floor and use the revised TM-AC1900 on the bottom floor. That's all been dismissed now...

    RT-AC86U stock vs merlin

Is this really true? This is important for me, for I was one of those evil interlopers that acquired a 1900 and converted it to a 68U. The entire purpose was to get coverage from routers on the 3rd floor and the basement. I have a perfectly good N66 as well and a Cat 5E connection to these two...
