    DAS suggestions

Was looking at picking up one of these babies with eSata + USB but never went with them. http://www.addonics.com/products/raid_system/ast4.asp Many different configurations available, and pretty cheap.

Link Aggregation + Quad Lan + HP Procurve 1800-24G = Win?

Just revisiting this while I have some spare time.. I'd change the RAID card to a super cheap LSI LSI00118 RoHS MegaRAID SAS 8344ELP 8-port Raid controller Flexibility to use SAS or SATA II drives. 3 Gb/s throughput per port Greater than 2TB array support. 128MB cache, RAID 0/1/5/10/50. PCI...

    Remodeling home network,need opinion

You might also consider adding another router to your network as an access point - I know some of the routers that support the DD-WRT firmware can be had for pretty cheap (IE the WRT54GL) - $50-$70.

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1.5TB--Safe to use?

Where there's doubt, there is no doubt. You know what I mean? While the extra 500GB may be tantalizing, remember that the WD 2TB drive was just released. You can also find Hitachi 1TB drives on sale for about $80 shipped. Also, AFAIK they are dropping the warranty from 5 years down to 3...

Bought 2 NICs, both have the MAC address

Look up a program called macshift: http://devices.natetrue.com/macshift/ I use it when on the road at hotels. Some hotels ban you if you download a lot, and they do it by MAC address. This command line program lets you generate a new mac accress pretty easy. More fun, look up Mac...

    DIY NAS file copy speeds

I usually get around 3-5MB, using the horrible, horrible My World Book II WD NAS drive. Doesn't matter whether it's Vista or XP SP3. Yeah.

What's the Fastest I can get out of this Equipment

If you've got room and space inside your PC, removing the drives from their USB enslosure and plugging them in directly to the MB might gain you a little bit extra (at least for SATA drives), assuming none of your enclosures are 2 drives in RAID0 or anything funky like that (some of the early...

    TS-639 Pro Reviewed

Good luck with those 1.5TB drives - they've been having a lot of issues. They released a firmware update, but [http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3002788&pagenumber=4]yeah[/url]. Although they do try and make up: http://www.techreport.com/discussions.x/16246

    DIY NAS file copy speeds

You might want to lay out a test procedure (IE, to reduce the effects of OS caching and what not) or at least set up some parameters. IE, to copy around 500MB of small documents, to copy 5GB of movies. Might give the results more meaning.

DIY NAS board better than the Intel D945GCLF2?

If I were rolling my own DIY box I'd be going with this board: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131228 4x GigE LAN ports + Link Aggregation = win.

    Linksys Mediahub Preview and Review

If you're going to spend $400-$800 on just a great NAS box, why settle for mid-range capacitY? That being said, with all the horrible issues going on with the 1.5TB drives Seagate is pumping out, I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole (or my data).

    Long term storage compatibilty/access

You might also want to check out MozyHome. Unlimited online backup for $5 a month. Might be a solution if you're only accessing it rarely (after you've phased it out of the first array. http://mozy.com/home
