Is it possible to run 2.4 GHz in client mode while configuring 5 GHz as AP?

Often enough I find my self in a position to run the 2.4 GHz channel in client mode and the 5 GHz as an AP. This is done in hotels where I aim to keep my devices on seperate subnet. I've been using DD-WRT to achieve this but would prefer to use AsusWRT if at all possible. Is there a way to...

Anybody using these tiny USB 3.0 Flash drives with asusWRT-Merlin?

Yea it's just the M.2 drive I have that is having the issue, Portable HDD and thumb drives are fine. It's a niche drive with a proprietary Apple connector so not a huge surprise that it isn't compatible. If I was going to start spending more than a few dollars I would just go ahead and start...

Anybody using these tiny USB 3.0 Flash drives with asusWRT-Merlin?

My router locks up when I connect my M.2 SATA drive. I don't feel like investing in another SSD, as cheap some may be so I'm looking at these minimal footprint USB drives that will essentially stay 'permanently' affixed to the router.

Mac users | Tell me about your wireless backups with asusWRT-Merlin (Time Machine, CCC, etc)

Yeah I'm not looking to use both. After all I read about issues with Time Machine on non Apple routers I think I'm going to shy away from it. You said there were issues with netatalk and AFP. Is there any issues with the Tuxera drivers and GUID/HFS? Can I use those formats without worries or do...

Just to be clear, you are using Time Machine via your 5TB drive with your asusWRT router syncing 3 Macs wirelessly? No issues to date? Thanks for sharing your experience.

The more I look into the SanDisk, the happier I am I didn't pull the trigger on it when I found it for a killer deal. The amazon reviews reflect what you're saying here as well. The Samsung and Lexar drive don't have these complaints from what I could find.

Anybody using these tiny USB 3.0 Flash drives with asusWRT-Merlin?

I believe those are limited to 64GB which is a shame since they have a solid track record and no heat issues that I'm aware of.

This would work counterintuitively to what I'm trying to accomplish.

Mac users | Tell me about your wireless backups with asusWRT-Merlin (Time Machine, CCC, etc)

Since this is all Linux, I can see why Ext2/3 is the preferred format to be used. I'd like my backups to be held in HFS+ so I can access them after a fresh install and restore them without accessing my router if need be. Is it ill advised to use a GUID formatted HFS+ partition with Carbon Copy...

Thats impressive! Considering SanDisk only makes the Ultra Fit in capacities up to 128 GB o_O https://www.sandisk.com/home/usb-flash/ultra-fit-usb

Asus RT-N66U with 380.58_0 no Time Machine option

AsusWRT-Merlin is stellar but think twice about using it for Time Machine. Have a look here: http://www.snbforums.com/threads/mac-users-tell-me-about-your-wireless-backups-with-asuswrt-merlin-time-machine-ccc-etc.32208/

I should add that I'm not looking to make a bootable backup. This for just the important stuff like documents/photos etc. I prefer to do clean installs and transfer the rest over myself when the time comes.

Is Carbon Copy Cloner a better alternative? Does that have any problems I should be aware of? So much to learn still.

Mac users | Tell me about your wireless backups with asusWRT-Merlin (Time Machine, CCC, etc)

So you're saying the Time Machine App in the asusWRT-Merlin is not a good idea. I knew there were issues with TM and Sparse Disk Bundles without AFP, but I thought asusWRT worked that out. Bummer. I wonder why Asus markets their routers/firmware as supporting Time Machine if it's only a matter...

Thanks for taking the time to relay your experience. How long did you have the setup with the AC3200 and Time Machine running?
