Yeah it is coming back to me now, yes think I have read something about it a while ago. So far so good for me maybe because I am a lite user and only have YazDHCP as addon. I do have a sophos xg105w in the cupboard bought used very cheaply. I did use another sophos SG firewall some years ago but...
Would like to suggest a poll for non-supported gear.
For instance I have a RT-AC86U with another as backup (both bought used very cheaply). Understand this unit is no longer supported by Asuswrt-Merlin but these are just too solid to throw away.
I do not know what other gear people are keeping...
@heysoundude @Tech9
Thanks both for your posts. I have read a bit more about ipv6. More importantly the potential issues and benefits. Not having much tech background, I think currently there is no need for me to use ipv6 until I understand how to properly configure my router. So I have...
It works now. I simply mess around the ipv6 settings on RT-AC86U.
I disabled Accept Default Route and apply. No joy.
Then I disabled Accept Default Route and apply. Full joy. The trick is WAN prefix length is not 64 but 56.
RT-AC86U Firmware 386.14_2
My test setup is laptop > RT-AC86U > modem/router (DHCP and ipv6 enabled) > WAN
My ISP is using PPoE so I set the RT-AC86U as PPoE and ipv6 as Native. Tested with google ipv6 test and result returned negative so only ipv4 is active.
I connect my laptop directly to the...
My Asus RT-AC86U with firmware 386.14_2 has been so solid that I have not needed to make any changes for a long time save to login to take a look from time to time. I have always bridged my generic modem/router and put my Asus in router mode.
I now have a temporary need to put my modem/router...
I am very tempted to remove it but don't know how to do it safely. Should I power down the router and remove it? Or I eject it from "safely remove disk" function on the router webgui?
Sorry these must be dumb questions. I want to go back to basics and only have YazDHCP as an addon to the Asuswrt...
On second thought don't think I should mess with Entware and should leave it alone.
Is there a way to find out if my router requires the USB2 drive to function after removing Diversion?
Hmmmm ... good question. I installed these a long time ago and just could not recall what I did.
I don't remember if Entware came with the Asuswrt or I installed it afterwards. Or if YazDHCP requires Entware.
So if I uninstall Entware I could remove the USB2 drive, is that right?
Hi, yes I am still using RT-AC86U and probably will flog it until I really need new tech.
I have just uninstalled Diversion and left Entware and YazDHCP untouched.
I was wondering if I can safely remove the USB2 drive? Without Diversion I don't think it is necessary anymore but I don't really...
Thanks @RMerlin for your hard dedicated work.
My next router will certainly be on your supported list.
Can I assume RT-AC86U_386.14_2 (17/11/2024) is the final version?
