Best powerline equipment when GFCI is part of the picture?

I installed 4 of Trendnet AV2 adapters TPL-422E. They are about 4 times faster than my old Netgear powerline adapters. Keeping these and getting a set of 2 (TPL-422E2K) for my other network - yes we have 2 networks. 1 is on a VPN and 1 straight out - 1 for secure traffic like my computers and...

Best powerline equipment when GFCI is part of the picture?

So far I've tried a Trendnet TPL-430A and a TP-Link WPA 7617. I 500Mbps service but most results for my office in the garage which by code has GFCIs is 20/6. Sometimes more - sometimes less. One thing both have in common is that the "remote" device does have a ground which implies that...

It's SW Florida. They would good for about 4 years - yesterday was abnormal. The panel has it's own surge protector.

Best powerline equipment when GFCI is part of the picture?

I have all grounded outlets. Unfortunately we had multiple power failures late yesterday that seems to have done in the two "receivers' in my office. Will need to order something today.

Best powerline equipment when GFCI is part of the picture?

The current adapters I have are only 2 prong so must be using hot and neutral. Most new units use 3 prongs - I'm guessing they use neutral and ground which would seem to be better. Thoughts?

Best powerline equipment when GFCI is part of the picture?

The garage and house are separate buildings so running ethernet in the air between would ugly - the CEO would veto it. Below ground isn't reasonable. The garage doesn't have any cable so MOCA is out. These are all things I looked at several years ago. I have a free 240VAC circuit but it...

Best powerline equipment when GFCI is part of the picture?

Background: The house and my extra building with office are both on the same panel Panel has a whole house surge protector (it's SW Florida) No GCFI breakers in the panel but extra building is close to or 100% GFCI (per code) except for A/C unit The exterior walls of both are...

    5Ghz channels - 2 @ 44 and 2 @ 153

No really. I hard set the "13" to 40 Mhz per ASUS and a control channel of 36. It was on a 20 Mhz channel that auto'd to the same channel as the "86" that's physically adjacent to it. Now a WiFi analyzer shows them nicely spread. There isn't any setting that I can see to change the channel...

    5Ghz channels - 2 @ 44 and 2 @ 153

I have both 2.4Ghz and 5 Ghz enabled and I know about the range issue. I did hard set the "13" to 40 Mhz and a control channel of 36. Analyzer doesn't show anything else at this band. Interestingly setting the bandwidth and channel aren't an option with the "66". Both routers are running...

    5Ghz channels - 2 @ 44 and 2 @ 153

Just got a reply from ASUS. They want me to change the channel to 36 and the width to 40Mhz. But a quick look shows that 36 can't be 40 Mhz. I'll see where this goes.

    5Ghz channels - 2 @ 44 and 2 @ 153

I had some unusual annoying issues so I started running ping tests of 4 packets every 10 minutes to both the "66" router and the "13" router and capturing the results. Showed packet problems. The network was OK when the "remote" router was a ancient WRT54G class router with a very old version...

    5Ghz channels - 2 @ 44 and 2 @ 153

I'm having performance issues between my headend AC1300 RT-ACRH13 and a RT-AC66U_b1. Workstations wired and wireless to the "66" see less ping packet lose to the "66" than the "13". Have spent hours with support providing documentation but so far no resolution. The "66" is configured to...

Thoughts on Merlin for my RT-AC66U_B1 as a fix for my wireless problems

About a hour ago the router died (3 weeks old). Even a wired connection wouldn't work. Returned it via the UPS store method. Will order another AC66U_B1 today unless there's a better cost-effective solution. Wired back haul isn't viable as this is in a separate adjacent building with...

Thoughts on Merlin for my RT-AC66U_B1 as a fix for my wireless problems

I have a new RT-AC66U_B1 with the latest ASUS firmware 3.0.0.4.385_20632. I'm running it in repeater mode but I'm having strange problems with some wireless devices. The connect function on my Toshiba/Midea A/C unit is intermittent. The Blink sync module was intermittent and now it won't...

New RT-AC66U_B1 in repeater mode drops out

Should I "throw in the towel" and convert to Merlin (same firmware as the RT-AC68U) ? Return it and get another one? Thoughts?
