Asus RT-BE58 Go Review on STH

https://docs.gl-inet.com/router/en/4/interface_guide/mac_address/ Just for everyone’s reference. Here is what it looks like for what is arguably the most popular travel router lineup. You get to choose Factory Default, Cloned, or Custom with a Random. While not a huge deal, definitely a welcome...

Asus RT-BE58 Go Review on STH

Yes. But others have this as part of the WISP set up flow, so you wouldn’t have to remember to do this separate from selecting a new AP. Also at least for me, if I change that option on the BE58 Go, all of its clients will stop connecting to 5GHz to the travel router, only to 2.4GHz. This is...

Asus RT-BE58 Go Review on STH

First impressions playing around, for me the biggest missing feature with this BE58 Go that its competitors have, is spoofing/custom WAN MAC address options. Both GL.inet and TP-Link have easy options (especially when setting up WISP mode) to set a randomized / rotating WAN MAC address. It would...

Release ASUS ZenWiFi ET8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_25186 (2025/10/28)

OK I spent the day playing with this new FW and wanted to share my data points in case it helps someone else. I updated directly from the March FW, because a few of the releases between March and October made me lose 6GHz completely. I did an in-place upgrade and at first, only one client...

Release ASUS ZenWiFi ET8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_25186 (2025/10/28)

Ever since the 3/2025 version 25138 most of my 6GHz clients are only connecting to 5GHz on secondary nodes. I was going to revert again but I do have a single device connecting at 6GHz to that secondary node, whereas before every capable device would stay on 6GHz…

Release ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_36422 (2025/10/28)

Updated and things are generally reliable on my end. Have not had a chance to change the router password yet to test if the August changes are included in this October release. Anyone else use their router as a VPN server, and notice that VPN clients connecting to the router's VPN server no...

Release ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_36422 (2025/10/28)

Yeah, this release doesn’t seem to include any of the changes eg Security Enhancements they rolled out to other models in August.. Even the ET8 (still on 3.0.0.4.388) in August got the security enhancements… Edit: But weirdly does have October changes from other models… did they just miss a...

Release ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_36387 (2025/05/21)

If they brought the BE98 non pro to North America I'd jump on that in an instant for the 2x 5GHz bands. I have some devices on 6GHz but not many. Certainly not enough to want 2x GHz bands if I'm wired backhaul'ing.

Release ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_36387 (2025/05/21)

Just to get FW that has already been superseded on other models.

Release ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_36387 (2025/05/21)

So BQ16 Pro and even the ET12 just got another round of FW updates, so Oct in addition to Sept. Even the AXE7800 was updated. Really shameful of Asus to deprioritize and abandon this not-so-long-ago flagship router.

Release ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_36387 (2025/05/21)

... and another month goes by, now even the older AXE11000 has new firmware. So sad.

Release ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_36387 (2025/05/21)

Disappointed even the ancient AC66U and AC68U routers got updates in Aug/Sept and this “flagship” not that long ago is still sitting around missing out. Asus should really release new FW with flagships they had released in mind. The AXE16000 still gotten the OpenVPN patch!

Release ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_36387 (2025/05/21)

Did anyone else's IOT devices' connection reliability fixed by this FW Update stop working reliably again randomly overnight last night? No FW updates on the router, it's an older IOT device so it doesn't get updates, tried to reboot my router, endless Assoc and Disassoc in the System Log...

Release ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_36382 (2025/03/12)

Thank you. Unfortunately ping times out regardless. OpenVPN client shows data received and sent though and stays connected. Strangely everything worked on this AXE16000 until the 3.0.0.6 firmware update.

Release ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_36382 (2025/03/12)

Thanks! UDP. It's strange because the VPN connects and my OpenVPN client gets an IP just fine, so I know auth and what not is working. But the client just hangs on accessing any resource. And with the same OpenVPN client to other Asus Routers with OpenVPN servers set up the exact same way...
