    I'm also getting this error message on my AC86U when trying to use the 4G modem. The modem works fine on the PC and the older 87U just fine. I tried the suggestions in this thread, but none worked.

    ASUS N66U and AC68U - Dropping WAN only

    I've been having the same issues on my old router AC87U. I get random WAN disconnects, which the only way to fix it is by a reboot. My modem and router haven't been changed in years, so the only thing I can think of is downgrading the firmware version, which I guess I'll try.

    It seems the new router I purchased is a dud. I also kept having issues with my server (others couldn't access it from outside the network, though all the ports were open). It was blocking SSL traffic from the server, couldn't get the 4G dongle thing to work right. I swapped it for my old router...

    I can try a new dongle, but I just tried it in the PC and it works fine.

    I changed my Asus router from the AC87U to the 86U for the VPN speeds. As like I had on my 87U, I installed Merlin and all seems to work except the 4G modem failover. I'm using a Huawei E372 which was working fine on the 87U. When I use the same settings on the new 86U I get the following error...
