    Good Backup Router?

My router is an AX11000 Pro. I like to have a backup router set up and ready to go. Alas, my current "backup" just died, so I need a replacement. Because it's just a backup device, it doesn't have to be really powerful, but it is helpful if it supports Merlin. Can anyone suggest an Asus model...

Is it possible to set the Ethernet port speed for one port?

asus gt-ax11000 pro not routing correctly

The test for this one would be to bypass all the upstream stuff and see if you are still getting the problem. If you aren't then there is something incorrectly configured in the switch? Another alternative would be to temporarily use a second (cheap) switch, to physically isolate things, just to...

GT-AX11000 - Dual WAN bug if using PPPoE

This must be down to the configuration for the WAN type for the secondary WAN. I use PPPoE on the primary WAN but not on the secondary WAN and it works just fine.

Recommended Dual WAN Failover Mobile Devices (USB, etc)?

I have recently used a ZTE MF833U1 and am now using a Zyxel LTE5388-M804. Both work very well indeed. I settled on the Zyxel because it has a built in telephone socket and slightly better reception. The ZTE is USB the Zyxel is Ethernet, so they tested both forms of fail-over with the Asus...

Should I use QOS on a 500mbps connection?

My rule 1 on this is "don't solve a problem you don't have" !! You can actually make problems where you didn't any before. Start without QOS and run tests on your service. Only do something if you encounter an issue.

Home network layout with NAS - please advise

Ah, I see. I had a similar problem, I think, with my router. My supplier uses a Fritz router with built in VOIP. It seems that the VOIP must use that particular router. I never thought to try what you are suggesting. The problem was that it needed a subscription to try it, so I wasn't willing...

    Auto USB Backup WAN

It's just a handy default. The default is yes, so if the main WAN fails and it detects there is a USB modem there it will automatically set all the settings for fail-over, activate the modem and switch to it. All without you having to do anything. Course, if you don't want that, then you can...

    4G Failover

    Thank you for that.

    4G Failover

I ended up sending it back though. I bought a Zyxel M804. The Zyxel works perfectly with the Asus on one of the lan ports. I guess I wanted to test that and also got attracted by the additional VOIP socket it has!! It's a good router, tons of configuration and can be configered as a simple modem...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 is now available for select models

Asus AX11000 Pro, works fine for me. Still the 5GHz LED's remain on even when the radio is disabled.

Home network layout with NAS - please advise

The NAS entirely depends on what you are going to do with it. I have one at home. Ultimately the speed limit is not the network, it's the drives. The configuration of the drives will greatly affect speed. Certainly, in my case, aggregation made no difference. Gold drives are just very noisy so...

    GT-AX6000 Bufferbloat

Ah yes, you are using it with a very fast connection. My connection is much slower. That's a real shame.
