unfortunately this seems to be the "normal behavior" of any new Asus firmware update. It's very frustrating. If you're looking at doing anything "special" like port forwarding, openvpn into your router, or setting the whole home to a VPN provider outbound, then it's common to run into issues...
Hope this helps but 7968 didn't allow the whole house vpn to work anymore so I dropped back to 7756.
To help explain my setup: I have 2 different scenarios that I use VPN for. In scenario one, I use Nord to set the whole house into the Nord VPN system so none of my NBA League pass is...
Not having problems with the wifi but now my access of running a connection into NordVPN no longer seems to work. Frustrating as I was trying to view the release notes on this one from my phone and accidentally upgraded to this version.
I just dropped back to 7756 and the openvpn into Nord is...
The internal fan is actually on from the moment you power it up. You have to be quiet and put your head down close but you can hear it. that's actually the only way I've heard the fan so far. It hasn't ramped up or anything at least.
Been using a new AX8 for a couple weeks and I notice that this thing gets really warm. Much more than my other routers ever did. I saw on youtube that this has a fan in it (real quiet, listen closely) but still, the countertop it sits on gets really toasty. I've decided to put it on a bakers...
Here are some workarounds:
#1 - Nope. none determined yet.
#2 - Since I have a Synology NAS, there is a setting in the DSM Contol Panel> External Access> DDNS and you can set up the DDNS from there. Lots of preconfigured hosts or create your own!
#3 - You could set up your own DHCP server on...
My findings so far are not great. :( (Hopefully it's ok to link to the thread on Netgear community I posted. If not, feel free to edit this or let me know and I can remove this link.)
#1 - Nope. No way to change the lockout time.
#2 - Nope.
#3 - Nope. Netgear doesn't handle that.
I actually just left Asus ROG AC5300 router and the beautifying was a major annoyance. They made a "game centric" gui that didnt match any of their documentation or anything tech support said when you contacted them. Just seems like it would be trivial to allow you to select which interface to...
To keep it simple, here's a copypaste from the Netgear Community support forum where I posted it. I then went to tech support chat and was told to call 888NETGEAR where I sat on hold for 30mins before they started transferring me around to only come back and say "I'm not trained to answer so...
I just bought the AX8 and I think its responsive enough. One aggrivation though is that if you don't touch it VERY often (like 2mins maybe?) then it logs you out. when you're doing troubleshooting and have it open in another tab and hop back to it, its annoying to have to look up (or...
I didn't see this already being discussed. Apologies if it is. With "ax" being advertised so much, I was wondering what everyone thinks of upgrading from the GT-AC5300 to the Nighthawk AX8. Some background for those curious, I've had issues with the AC5300 ever since I tried for over a year to...
