RP-AX58 for AiMesh has some serious flaws

Hi, I have literally just bought an RP-AX58 for use as a media bridge. It was on sale for the same price as the AX56, and there did appear to be one firmware update for it on the ASUS website. Have you used it as a bridge, and if so, do you mind me asking what your experience has been? When...

XT8 - possible to use 5GHz-2 in Bridge mode?

Hi, question is as per the subject - does anyone know if it's possible to use 5GHz-2 in Bridge mode? It seems to be limited to 5GHz-1 for the bridge. When I try manual settings for the bridge, and select 5GHz-2, it goes into a mode where the LED flashes blue, which appears to mean it's trying...

    AIMesh mixing dual-band and tri-band

A bit more reading suggests that mixing dual-band and tri-band may be a bad idea, you can't really control what each band on each device is doing. On a dual-band node, the 5GHz band will be both fronthaul and backhaul. Having experimented a bit, I've found a location where I can get between...

    AIMesh mixing dual-band and tri-band

I've recently got FTTP broadband, currently 400Mbps but capable of up to 800Mbps. I want to replace my dusty old AC86U with something WiFi 6 capable, and also extend/improve wireless signal and transfer speeds around the house. I have also for some time been keen to try out AIMesh. (I appreciate...

vpnmgr vpnmgr - Manage and update VPN Client configurations for NordVPN and PIA

I think it's worth reiterating that this change points the script at files in a backup folder on the wevpn website, so while it allows the script to run for NordVPN and PIA users, I have no idea if those backup files for WeVPN are actually valid, useable files.

vpnmgr vpnmgr - Manage and update VPN Client configurations for NordVPN and PIA

Thanks - and sorry, I phrased my post a little badly, but it's probably safe to assume that's a backup folder with old files, which is why I'm not sure if they're okay to use. But since I don't use WeVPN, it was easier to point the script to the backup files, as it seemed to need to download...

vpnmgr vpnmgr - Manage and update VPN Client configurations for NordVPN and PIA

I had the same issue. Noticed that these files aren't accessible through the browser, path now appears to be https://wevpn.com/resources/openvpn.bak/UDP.zip https://wevpn.com/resources/openvpn.bak/TCP.zip I edited the /jffs/scripts/vpnmgr script, adjusted the paths on lines 752 and 754 in my...

spdMerlin spdMerlin - v4.x - speedtest and bandwidth monitoring

I'd forgotten how ridiculously fast you can sometimes be with fixes! All good here, thanks Jack.

spdMerlin spdMerlin - v4.x - speedtest and bandwidth monitoring

Didn't even spot that was an option, thanks for pointing me towards it. :)

spdMerlin spdMerlin - v4.x - speedtest and bandwidth monitoring

I get the same error, although on an AC86U with 386.2_4 and have only dirty flashed. Uninstalled and reinstalled spdmerlin, tried to check for any leftover files between uninstall and reinstall. There's no /opt/share/spdmerlin.d folder on my router, my spdstats.db is in /jffs/addons/spdmerlin.d...

Connecting router to modem via Powerline, how bad an idea?

Thanks for the replies - appreciate the feedback that it's worth a try at least. Bearing in mind it's likely to depend on which mains sockets (outlets) I choose, I started experimenting today. (Apologies for the long post.) Firstly I connected a Powerline at the router's probable new location...

Connecting router to modem via Powerline, how bad an idea?

Have been holding off replacing my router as I wanted to build an AIMesh system, but can't see any realistic options in this house for a wired backhaul, so a tri-band router to support wireless backhaul seemed the way to go. However I'm so used to having an Asus router running Merlin that I...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.9 is now available

:D Thanks, I used the same syntax (using "$@") after @Dabombber's post and it seems to be working fine. Not really sure what dhcp_lease is actually doing, so can't really tell whether it's still working as intended, but I see no reason to doubt that it is.

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.9 is now available

Thanks. It looks like there's a difference in our implementations, though. It looks like you're appending to dnsmasq.conf, which presumably means you don't already have a "dhcp-script=" line in it. My dnsmasq.conf already contains the line "dhcp-script=/sbin/dhcp_lease" so I'm using the...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.9 is now available

Thank you! Not only has that worked, but I had a "lightbulb moment" and I think the use of postconf scripts has finally clicked into place in my head. And I love learning new things even more than I like fixing problems. So thanks again. dhcp-script receives up to 4 arguments, so can someone...
