Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.5 is now available

Thanks, but that's not it. 'wl' interfaces are wireless. Anything that starts with wl0 is the 2.4 ghz band and wl1 is the 5 ghz band. Still unclear why there would be 4 wireless virtual interfaces instead of 2 on those bridges (and 5 of them on the main br0).

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.5 is now available

My upgrade didn't go smoothly. After the upgrade from 102.4 to 102.5 I got a message saying the upgrade completed and I need to manually reboot. The UI wouldn't respond so I cycled the power and when it booted it was reset to factory settings and still on 102.4. I did the upgrade again and...

VLAN Access Port for Untagged Only

Hi everyone, I have 3 vlans (501, 502 and 503) across two Asus routers, both running Merlin 3006 (all 3 are guest networks). On one of the routers, I want to connect a device to one of the LAN ports to be part of the main network only (vlan 0 or "untagged") and not any of those 3 vlans. Is this...

    RT-BE88U and RT-BE7200

Thank you, that's exactly the reason I want to get it at Best Buy so wanted to make sure it's indeed the same BE88U. Great deal!

    RT-BE88U and RT-BE7200

I think I know the answer to this but I want to make sure, is RT-BE7200 (sold at Best Buy) and RT-BE88U the same device? If I pick up the RT-BE7200 will I run into any issues flashing the RT-BE88U Merlin build? Thanks!

    [ 3006.102_4 alpha Build(s) ] available build(s)

I can also confirm that, sort of. On my GT-AX6000, I set the Aura RGB to off and after a while it turns back on and resets to its default value.

Allowing main network to access guest networks

Hi everyone, Running on the 3006 firmware version, I have 3 guest networks that are isolated from everything. I'd like to have the main network (192.168.0.0/24 on br0) be able to reach one-way to those 3 guest subnets. I currently achieve this with a firewall-start script that runs the...

    [ 3006.102_4 alpha Build(s) ] available build(s)

Installed on my GT-AX6000. Everything worked pretty flawlessly. One thing I had to work around is if I set up a guest network in "VPN mode" and check the option to direct all traffic to the VPN -- clients connected get no Internet access. I was able to work around that by setting this as a...

Question about guest network 1 and VLAN 501

Adding - I thought my mistake was looking at the traffic of wl0.1 instead of looking at br1. But even if I look at the tcpdump of br1, the ethertype shows regular IPv4 and I see no 501-tagged frames at all. Very confused here. The router went through all the trouble of defining a vlan for the...

Question about guest network 1 and VLAN 501

Hi everyone. When I enable guest network 1 on my AC68U (on the 2.4 band only) with access intranet disabled it creates a new virtual interface called wl0.1 and it appears to set up a 501 vlan and a new bridge (br1) that includes wl0.1 (guest network) , eth0.501 (wan), eth1.501 (2.4ghz...

    Help with traffic filtering

Hi everyone, Attaching a diagram of my network setup. You'll notice there is a single subnet (192.168.0.0/24) here. My goal: blocking traffic from HOST A to HOST B. There are many other hosts on the network, this is a simplified diagram. For other reasons, I can't subnet or VLAN, everything is...

To AiMesh or not -- technical understanding

Yeah, but then the cost saving is limited because I need to get switches. Either way, that's off topic from what I'm asking :)

To AiMesh or not -- technical understanding

SmartConnect generally performs poorly, so I rather avoid it and I don't mind having two separate SSIDs for each band. That's not the important part though. You say "AiMesh the nodes" suggesting that Option #1 is better than Option #2, and I would like to know the reasoning for that.

To AiMesh or not -- technical understanding

If I have 3 APs and a wired router (as you suggest), for the purpose of my question that would be the same as what I described as option #2. I only went with these specific three units because of their great wireless performance (even when I use two of them as APs), and because I also plan on...

To AiMesh or not -- technical understanding

Hi everyone. In spite of searching endlessly, I could not get a definite answer so I'm hoping that posting here will finally make it clear. I am moving to a new house, it has a basement floor, main floor and second floor, each of the three is roughly 1700 sqft. I am thinking of placing 3...
